I think that old news guy, sorry name has slipped my mind (andy rooney i beleive) , said that sorta thing months ago..

In this hurricane everyone in new orleans and the surrounding coummunities were affected.. Not just black.. but everyone. Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asian, Everyone. New Oreleans is a mecca of culture. I dont know why this has turned into a race war.

While I don't think it was racial, there was a clear failure by the federal government to get tis rescue operation underway. They knew last Thursday that the hurricane was gonna hit and it took them till yesterday to roll in the national guard and get food and water to people in the superdome. It's unacceptable and I don't think they were ready. They should have been though, FEMA has a top 3 list of the biggest threats to our security. On it was a terrorist attack on New York, a major earthquake in southern california, and a hurricane hitting New Orleans. Listen to the rant that the mayor of New Orleans went on Thursday night, he starts cussing and everything, but it's the damn truth and I give him props for it. Sometimes the feds (and the lousiana state government) really screw up. This was one of those times, but I don't think it's a racial issue.
