Re: The Dark Knight
I got to know Christopher Nolan (the director) when he was showing his first film ( Following) at the San Francisco Film Festival.
I worked with an organization that took people (directors, writers, actors) that had films in the festival into high schools and junior highs to speak to the kids about the film business and their work.
Christopher was a cool dude and we did a couple schools with him (me and another friend of mine from film school at SFSU). We also got to hang with him and his producer and two actors from Following (the one actress was hot as fuck [they are all British, so her accent made her already hot looks even more fuckable]). They liked the lack of pretension that my buddy and I had (that festival was full of arrogant film fucks [major reason I didn't pursue film as a career]).
Anyway, I still have the mini-DV's that I shot of Christopher. Crazy to see a low key guy blow up to the mega director that he is today! Very cool.
So, without a doubt, and regardless of hype, marketing, etc., I will definitely be seeing Dark Knight. I mostly see films anyway because of my respect for the writer and/or director primarily. That being said, Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy II is on my must see list right now too!

Re: The Dark Knight
I loved it! Ledger pulled off a TREMENDOUS job as the Joker. Not only that, but this movie was even better then Batman Begins. I'll go ahead and say that this was the best comic book movie I've ever seen, and one of the best "action" movies as well.
I'd give it 5 stars.
The next 2 I want to see are Hellboy 2 and Mongol.

Re: The Dark Knight
I agree with the hellboy sentiment. I watched it last night after the kids went to bed. fucking loved it. Had to rewind and watch it again. Going to watch dark knight either tonight or tomorrow. depends if i decide to go to bed at a decent hour.
