Jesse Jackson called blacks 'niggers' and actually apologized...

Jesse Jackson reportedly also used n-word in off-air gaffe

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson used the N-word during a break in a TV interview where he criticized presidential candidate Barack Obama, Fox News confirmed Wednesday.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson apologized to Sen. Obama's campaign last week over "hurtful" remarks.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson apologized to Sen. Obama's campaign last week over "hurtful" remarks.

The longtime civil rights leader already came under fire this month for crude off-air comments he made against Obama in what he thought was a private conversation during a taping of a "Fox & Friends" news show.

In additional comments from that same conversation, first reported by TVNewser, Jackson is reported to have said Obama was "talking down to black people," and referred to blacks with the N-word when he said Obama was telling them "how to behave."

Though a Fox spokesman confirmed to The Associated Press that Jackson used the slur, the network declined to release the full transcript of the July 6 show and did not air the comments.

Jackson, who is now traveling in Spain, apologized in a statement last Wednesday for "hurtful words" but didn't offer specifics. iReport.com: Is Jackson still relevant?

"I am deeply saddened and distressed by the pain and sorrow that I have caused as a result of my hurtful words. I apologize again to Senator Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, their children as well as to the American public," Jackson said in a written statement.

"There really is no justification for my comments and I hope that the Obama family and the American public will forgive me. I also pray that we, as a nation, can move on to address the real issues that affect the American people."

A spokeswoman for Jackson's civil rights organization, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, said she could not confirm that Jackson used the slur.

apparently he was also caught saying that he wanted 'to cut his nuts off' last week

Re: Hell hath frozen over

Maybe I missed it but the only one that seems to be concerned with it is the white press. Of couse it's nothing unusual to hear it, having work in a city that is almost 50% black. Calling a spade, a spade is consider fine if you're a spade. If a white commentator got caught saying it off the air they'd want his head on a stick.

The real problem is, Jessie and Al are upset that Obama is stepping in their teritory!

I actually respected Senator Obama for saying what he said.
He said that African Americans have to start taking responsibility and stop blaming the White man for their problems. Telling them to stop being lazy bitches, basically.

Re: Hell hath frozen over

I believe Jesse, Al, and others are a bit unsure of what the future may hold if Obama is elected; currently, these groups hold a tremendous amount of power, money, and influence over issues in the black community.

If Obama makes significant changes to some policies, these groups stand a great chance of losing some/most of this power, etc. Obama could be a upsetting the status quo; I wonder if this might cost him some power, influence, or votes.

Re: Hell hath frozen over

What Obama is saying is old news. Bill Cosby has been saying the same thing for years now. Matter of fact I got an email with one of Bill speeches with reference to the Obama thing.

It's not surprising black leaders aren't happy with him. He's not truly a black American. True his father was African but that doesn't make him an afro-American brought up in the inter-city from slave origin. He was brought up white. His Oreo American status makes him palatable to young white college students. If he had came out with a true black agenda, Hillary would be the Democratic nominee. It's a matter of a half a loaf is better than none which keeps black leaders not beeing more forward.

He's also not making to many friends with world leaders either with his world tour. He already has the Palestinians pissed and the Germany's chancellor has accused him of over-reaching his status. It's to much like putting the cart before the horse. It's something that would be more favorable after/if he gets elected.

mentioning sharpton reminded me of a joke:

The Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, while visiting a primary
school class, found themselves in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.

The teacher asked both men if they would like to lead the discussion of the word "tragedy". So the illustrious Rev Jackson asks the class for an example of a "tragedy".

One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a runaway tractor comes along and knocks him dead, that would be a tragedy."

No," says the Great Jesse Jackson, "that would be an accident."

A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."

I'm afraid not," explains the exalted Reverend Al. "That's what we would call a great loss. " The room goes silent. No other children volunteered.

Reverend Al searches the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"

Finally at the back of the room little Johnny raises his hand. In a stern voice he says: "If a plane carrying the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton were struck by a missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy."

"Fantastic!" exclaims Jackson and Sharpton, "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?"

"Well," says little Johnny, "because it sure as hell wouldn't be a great loss, and it probably wouldn't be an accident either".
