I was actually going to start a thread on this (surprise surprise). But since you did booty, here's my $0.02:
I have had my iPhone for exactly a year now, and plan on upgrading to the new phone, but I'm not about to stand in a fucking two block line waiting to get one. I went by the AT&T store a couple miles from my house thinking I'd avoid the madhouse that would be going on at the Apple Stores. No dice. Fucking line was around the corner when I got there, so I passes. I went to an AT&T store near my office (close to the barrio, I figured the ese's wouldn't be as down on the technology) and that line had about 75 people in it!
Glad I wasn't frothing at the mouth to get it that day because the fucking iTunes servers got fried and a "-4 error" prevented people from activating their phones!
My biggest desire around the new phone was actually the new 2.0 software it runs. This software upgrade is free for people with the older, current iPhone. This is where Apple finally nails it!
The new software allows "push" of all services for calendars, emails and other programs. It also finally works (without fucking workarounds) with Microsoft Exchange Server. This new upgrade does everything that my Blackberry Enterprise did, except BETTER! The upgrade also allows a better email management system (radio buttons next to email that allow you to easily delete or move to folder).
The other major addition with the software is the addition of the 3rd Pary Application Store. So gamers have a shitload of stuff to play now, that I heard is near par with Nintendo and other handheld systems (I don't know about this because I don't play games).
The only Ap I downloaded that is IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE is the free Remote Ap. This allows you to sync with your iTunes over Wi-Fi and control your entire iTunes library with your iPhone! It syncs instantly and includes artwork, libraries and playlists. It'll work all over your house, as long as you have a Wi-Fi signal to the base computer running iTunes. I've been sitting in my backyard by the pool controlling the music on my stereo (connected to my Mac Mini which displays on my Plasma TV).
My email on Exchange syncs so instantaneously, that this morning I saw a few new emails on my computer and when I opened them on my iPhone, it immediately marked the email "read" on my computer!
Bottom line is that the new iPhone finally nails everything I need in a phone (with the exception [obviously] of my company's Nextel 2-Way push to talk).
If you have a current iPhone; wait till the fanaticism is over at the stores and download the 2.0 Ap. That's where the money is!
What I'll be looking for in the new iPhone hardare is:
1. GPS
2. Faster internet on the 3G network (up to 2.8 times faster than the old EDGE network)
3. 16gig capacity over my current 8gig. I use the shit out of the ability to view movies when I travel for work. The right cables allow you to plug the iPhone into TV sets, so when I'm in hotel rooms, I have the ability to watch my movies on the set (after I'm done watching the in room adult pron packages of course

).
So me being an admitted Apple Cult following Mac junkie aside; the iPhone is the best phone I've ever had (I've used multiple Crackberries, Treo, and other regular cells through Motorola, Erickson and other carriers/hardware makers).
I'd highly recommend it booty.
