Deck Rebuild
So a couple of weeks ago, I noticed my Old ass back deck had some play in it. I figured, "Ehh, it should last this year, and I will build a nice new one next year".
But it was not lasting. I noticed it Sank a couple of inches, and seeing as I am having a big party later this month, I thought I should repair it.
Yes, repair was the idea. I figured a day on July 5th, and I should be good to go.
WRONG!!!
I finished the Deck on Monday eve the 7th, and finished the rest of the area today. Shoveling only 4 ton of Pea gravel and wheel-Barreling it to the back.
The old deck - 2x6 framing joists with 1x6 redwood slats, 20 foot long. I never treated it in the 11 years I have lived here.
This Shit came out almost as easy as Butter!
Although, I did kill 1 Black widow and saw another hide under some crap.
My nieghbor came over on Wednesday eve and cleared out all the old crop from the lower section. This will be filled by rock until I can rebuild the full size deck (24x20)
A temp Fire pit for the party, see If I can burn down my house!

Re: Deck Rebuild
♦You build it like that here and it'll rot in a year or 2. So wish it wasn't always so wet here...
Looks good. Why didn't you built it a little longer so there could be a smoother transition between concrete and deck? Is it just because this is a temp job until you do the whole thing?

The idea was to build the higher part (one I built) then add wood to the existing smaller part, so it would have that transition. But the other part was too rotted as well.
The whole thing is temporary for the year, I am building a 20x24 next spring, cover the concrete and more. I did not have the time, know how (1st deck), nor $$ for the full deck.

Re: Deck Rebuild
HAhaha, no. It is NOT pink!!!
but it sure as hell looks that way in the pics.
The Split level deck was going to be temp as well, but the new deck next year will all be 1 level with a step on the outside. As well as a real fire pit.

Re: Deck Rebuild
Good ideas for the larger deck next year. I'll have to go with those speaking against the two levels. Next year, will you be able to keep the floor joists from constant contact with the soil? It may help with preventing rot.

Hell yes you are!!! Come on down, I have a spare room you can use, or you can share my bed!!!!!
The House color is "Canyon Floor", and as I was sitting out back with the dogs, I looked at it. Yes, it does look pink.
I will surely take pics of the party, until I am too trashed. Of course, that won't take long.

haha, no.
Actually, I was not that sore. My legs where a little stiff when I took the dogs for the 4:40 AM walk Friday, but my back was fine. Well, except for the sunburn. I put Sun Screen on the arms and legs and face, then took off my shirt. DOH!
