Subject: Medal of Honor
PO2 (EOD2) Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq, giving his life to save his fellow Seals.
During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National
Cemetery, SEALs were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it. This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.
This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see everyday.
Since the media won’t make this news, I choose to make it news by posting it Here. I am proud of our military. If you are proud too, please pass this on. If not, then rest assured that these fine men and women of our military will continue to serve and protect this wonderful country.

Re: Subject: Medal of Honor
Glad to see a post about our MOH winners during this holiday! Also, glad to see you didn't make the common mistake and note the award as the "Congressional" medal. If I have any rep left, you get it!!

Re: Subject: Medal of Honor
PFC McGinnis died on the same streets we patrolled last time. They used the FOB that we set up last trip, in a town called Adhamiyah, it was one of Uday's palaces right on the Tigris River. When we left the country, we gave the FOB up to the Iraqi Army. Well, those turds just quit messing with the area, and it went back to craziness from there. We had a Lieutenant get a Silver Star over there. Anyone familiar with the goings-on of the war might recognize the name Haifa Street in Baghdad. That was the road we always had to take to get there.
That being said, these guys deserve the utmost respect. It's a serious thing to get the MOH, not just everyone can get those. Sadly, most of them are awarded post-humously.
