I got the Boot
So, I read about this boot camp thing is the paper a few weeks ago.
It seemed interesting. I have always been one to prefer "power" workouts and getting it over with rather than spending a boring hour at the gym....
but hot damn!
I am pretty sure I saw my life pass before me at my first class last week. He does thing likes 100 sit ups, than run a lap, then mountain climbers. Today is really the first day I wasn't sore since last Wed. class! It is a good sore though, like every muscle hurts which means I am working them all equally (although trying to focus on my ass ).
Today he had us doing 25 situps, then kettle bells, than running with a partner behind you who is holding you around the waist with a resistance band and trying to keep you from moving forward...
Today, it feels like someone took a tire iron to the back of my knees.
But it's all worth it. Doesn't this guy just look like he wants to be your ass?

Re: I got the Boot
Damn! Sounds like one heck of a power workout. Keep it up! I think you'll be seeing results soon, even if it is from a hospital bed.

Re: I got the Boot
Sore muscles? Can't squat down to pick up a dropped pencil? Lifting a beer require great, painful effort?
Sounds like it's time for a massage. Schedule one, your quads will thank you.
THEN GET DOWN AND GIVE ME TWENTY! YOU THINK YOU ARE IN SHAPE? I'VE SEEN BETTER SHAPES THROUGH A KALEIDOSCOPE! GIVE ME ANOTHER TEN!
Out of breath yet?

Re: I got the Boot
Always Change up your routine, if you get into a long stagnant routine, the muscles learn that.
Change is GOOD. Sore, but good.
Have fun, I will stick with what works for me.
4-5 miles walking each day, stretching, situps, pushups, and some light weights.
That is until I am ready to go back to real weights.
And later this summer, running. (YUK!)

Re: I got the Boot
Heh. I've been doing lots of hiking lately but if I get in better shape because of it, that's just a bonus. It's mainly for my hike in Peru (omg one month to go!!!). Personally, dance classes or dance-based workouts are the most effective for me just based on the fact that I will keep going back because I actually enjoy it. If I can't keep doing it then there is kind of no point in choosing that work out, IMO. I will just go back to being a couch potato.

Re: I got the Boot
My in laws used to go to a guy that ran a gym like a drill Sargent. I went once, to possibly join. Two problems; one, I knew the guy because he is in my Rotary club (made it awkward) and two, I fucking hate people telling me what to do, let alone YELLING at me to do something.
It works for a lot of people and my mother in law got into killer shape.
I prefer my routine of walking/jogging 3-4 miles, running stairs and swimming a mile in the morning. In fact, that's where I'm off to right now; CSULB to jog campus and then swim at the lap pool when it opens at 6:30AM.
