Comp keyboard help!
As most of you know, my computer skills are horrible. I have screwed up my wireless keyboard and can't figure out how to make the wireless keyboard work again.
Here's what happened: I was typing along with the wireless keyboard and pressed the wrong key. I don't know what key that was. The keyboard stopped working. It still will not work. I've tried restarting the computer, pressing many other keys, and have replaced the batteries. Still no luck!!
My comp is a laptop. The wireless keyboard and mouse are manufactured by microinnovations and I still have the installation CD, if it requires that.
Oh yeah, the mouse doesn't work either. What the hell am I doing wrong?
Any suggestions? What do ya'll think?

Re: Comp keyboard help!
I've restarted the comp a number of times; I believe the wireless thingie is rf. Why? because there is a piece that plugs into a usb port and is on the desk, while the keyboard is on a lower panel. The keyboard is not "line of sight" with the receiver for the mouse and keyboard.

Re: Comp keyboard help!
It may be that, through no fault of your own,the receiver may have malfunctioned, the reciever is the part that plugs into your usb port, that would cause both things not to have an effect on your comp.

Re: Comp keyboard help!
from their "limited info" site ... and i do mean damn limited .
Keyboards » How do i synchronize my KB720W
Applies To: KB720W
4/19/2007 11:35:00 AM
1. Flip the keyboard upside down. Under one of the flaps (or 'legs') is a small round ‘connect’ button. With the tip of a pen or pencil, press and release that button once.
2. Press the Connect/ID button on the receiver (the part that plugs into the computer).
3. Once again, flip the keyboard upside down, locate the connect/ID button and with the tip of a pen or pencil, press and release that button once.
4. Next, flip the mouse upside down, and underneath you will see a similar ‘connect’ button. Press and release that button once with a pen or pencil tip.
5. Press the Connect/ID button on the receiver.
6. Once again, flip the mouse upside down, locate the ‘connect’ button and press it.
Your keyboard and mouse should now be communicating with the receiver. The only time you need to resynchronize the set, is when you replace the batteries on either the mouse or the keyboard (or both).

Re: Comp keyboard help!
jabber: thank you for the idea. I unplug all the usb devices when I take my laptop on the road. I plug the usb's back in when I return; occasionally, I get a message saying the device will not operate in a certain port.
Plugging into usb's, I have: a cooling fan, printer, flat screen monitor, and keyboard/mouse. I have four usb ports.

Re: Comp keyboard help!
CWB: tried all of the above without any item working. I wonder if I should dump the program and try installing the software and then doing the communication thing??

Re: Comp keyboard help!
it might be the best thing to do .
uninstall and re-install .
does the program have anyway to check the connectivity or a set up procedure ?
if the manual is as good as the site is it may be faster in the long run .
i wonder if you hit a combination of keys that locked out the kb and mouse ... security stuff .

Re: Comp keyboard help!
I think it was a combination of keys. I'm used to playing with laptop sized keyboards and moved to this wireless keyboard because the laptop screen blocked some of the 22" flat screen I bought..
I will do the software removal and reinstall tomorrow. Thank you for the help!

Re: Comp keyboard help!
I'm calling this $18 wireless keyboard and mouse dead. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the software and went through the setup. It still doesn't work. I'm gonna trash this stuff and try something new.
Thank you for the help!

Re: Comp keyboard help!
I got a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse set Mod#1045 from Wal-mart for about 60.00 and have had no trouble at all. Good luck when shopping for your next keyboard!

Re: Comp keyboard help!
jabber: thanks for the tip. I haven't replaced the keyboard and mouse set I tossed into the recycling center. I'll give the MS one a shot; hopefully, I'll be upgrading my comp before fall and can use the keyboard with the new comp!
