about the only good thing about IE over FF involves the windows updater ... but they are working on that !
money issues asides (i didn't know that uncle bill charged for IE , news to me) , FF is much more flexible when it comes to add ons and plug ins . take a look here for more information :
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fi...ication=firefox
the ability and extent of customization of what you deem important to have in your browser is far superior with FF . IE is limited in this capacity and looks like it was designed by the rejects from mrs. bensons' third grade special needs class .
personally , i avoid all toolbars like the plague . google , yascrew ... the whole lot are nothing more than fluff and eye candy that are of dubious value and intent (aka : gleaning information about the user) . cutesy , yes ... functionality , about as worthless as a screen door on a submarine .
if i am so busy that i don't have the time to open a tab or window to do a google search then i can afford to have a second comp with google pulled up on it 24/7 .
on/in any browser real estate is at a premium ... why would i want to eat up valuable space with clutter and junk ? there is also the issue of "crap running in the background" eating up cpu time and ram ... slows a machine down .
vulnerability of toolbars to hacking/attacks is a consideration as well .
heh , there is a third option ... i am writing this using "seamonkey" , it basically took the place of the mozilla browser .
i use three browsers ... each one does a certain set of tasks better than the others . granted , the only thing i use IE for is the windows validation/updates .
