What have you done for your country recently?
This goes out mostly to Americans and plays off a rather famous quote from JFK, I do believe.
What have you done for this country recently?
Yes, I suppose you could call me a hippocrit for asking this (cause I don't do jack-). But it is still a valid point.
Personally I feel the country is going down the tubes, the politicians don't know what the hell they're doing (in some respects), and that there are some simple and easy fixes that can be done.
Of course, I would do something, but I'm not so sure I can find an outlet in which I can pour my thoughts to mix with not simply hundreds of thousands of others, but millions. Somewhere I can get my voice heard over the roar. Somewhere I can get hundreds and thousands of the masses to rise up behind me and storm the bastille. Of course such a place can't exist as a forum (You could count blogs). And of course that would be assuming too much of myself.
Regardless, I just suppose this is me being angry, immature, and idealistic, and just venting it out here...

Re: What have you done for your country recently?
I work for the government keeping the shit flowing in LA (literally) so every day I go to work, I help the country. Yes, I get paid, but I'm not your average government employee who just shows up and does as little as possible, I take on as much volunteer work as possible, and actually try to do a good job. Before this job, I worked for the ARMY

Hmmm... I suppose this again is the reason I should NEVER post after midnight... mostly for fear of seriously humiliating myself... Like this...

6 1/2 years in the Army. As mechanic I offer assistance to veterans with car problems through veterans assistance programs for cost of parts. I help veterans by putting them in contact with veterans programs and services they didn't even know about. I donated quite a bit to help military families with Christmas. I'm sure you can see a trend here.

ZPR: I think the number bug thingie gotcha, dude!
I train emergency responders to handle various types of emergencies, such as: hazardous material spills and leaks; rescue of persons over cliffs, off buildings, in confined spaces, etc; how to make decisions under stress; radiation emergencies; and how to order the appropriate coffee at a Starbucks...
I pay my taxes.
I volunteer in my community.
I challenge folks that are completely acceptive of the BS around them.
Thanks for the opportunity to speak my piece!

I suppose this again goes to show that I am a whiny teenager. Also, I severly underestimated the general community here. Sorry...

No, don't think about things as understimating. Try to see this as you have learned about a group of folks you can ask for assistance when stuff hits the fan on subjects you may not have lots of info on.
Keep it up, man!!
