Re: What can I say to convince a Mitt Romney supporter to come along the Ron Paul train?

You can try and reason with them, but I've found that most people who put their faith in liars like Mitt Romney, have put the blinders on to anyone else, especially anyone who wants to make as much change as Ron Paul.

My suggestion, watch the debates, get educated on both candidates, sit down with them and have a civilized discussion about it. Listen to what they have to say about him, and try your best to dispell any "facts" they might think they have about the candidate and his policies. Dont sit down with the intention to change their mind to yours, that will push most people away. Basically, attack the candidate, not the voter. You may be speaking to a brick wall, but sometimes, you can help people realize that they need to open their eyes and research what they hear these guys say.

On another note, I was sitting in the hotel lobby eating breakfast, and heard a guy say the dumbest thing I've heard today, so far. "I'm not going to vote for a Democrat, I'll vote Republican no matter what, even though I dont like any of them."

WTF, I wanted to slap this idiot. Thats the type of retarded thinking that we as voters need to get away from.

It doesn't look as Paul has a chance in hell of winning......And I'ld hate to waist my vote and help somebody I really don't want in the white house.

The only good thing about Mitt, is that he's probably got a good grasp on the economic solutions for this country. However, knowing how to get the Olympics profitable, and turning this countries debt around might be two different things. Since Mitt isn't actually creating the spending bills, I don't see anything good about him.

That is pretty retarded, but then I recall the old saying that 20% will always vote Democrat no matter what, 20% will always vote Republican, the key is the other 60%.

I and other supporters of Paul made those statements months ago. But since then, if you have been following the polls and caucuses and primaries, his numbers and support far exceeded our expectations. How can you count out a man who is placing 2nd or 3rd in the big earlys?! And to think, that is with the numbers possibly/probably skewd by the mainstream media reporting!

Dont give up on him yet. America is waking up. The youth will have their vote count on this election.

But first we must destroy those damn electronic voting machines....

No contest! I'll admit ignorance as to what Mitt Romney does or does not know about turning a profit. But if you've read anything on money that Ron Paul has written you can be sure of two things:

1. he understands money, spending an debt at the national level and
2. he will always vote in favor of the constitution, which was written to protect the common man.

I hesitate to add my unbridled enthusiasm for any political candidate, but this guy really has a record of proof that he is devoted to the ideas of personal liberties of everyone, everywhere. Now THAT, is a noble thing.

I like Ron Paul a lot (I think him and Kucinich are the least corrupt), but just because he hasn't voted for a bill that wasn't balanced, doesn't mean he hasn't tried to push one that wasn't balanced. There is a difference in not going along with the wasteful spending of others, and not having any of your own. With that being said, I still think he'd be a pretty good person in office.

I know! Tell them that when Ron Paul loses the nomination, and decides to run in the General Election as an Independent, he will pull enough of the 18-28 year old demographic away from the Democratic Party to elect another Republican for the next 4 years!

It is true the 18-28 democratic population likely lines up with Ron Paul. The problem is that in the last few elections, those same people simply do not go to the polls. Not even "rock the vote" or any thing else was able to convince them. In reality, that demographic is a non-factor.

Re: What can I say to convince a Mitt Romney supporter to come along the Ron Paul train?

As a whole, yes. But those that are already energized by Ron Paul will end up voting for him rather than a democrat. I agree, your average, run of the mill 18-28 will not vote... period. But those that would normally be voting for Hussein Obama or Hilary are now not only going to vote for Ron Paul, but they are actively volunteering in his campaign.

It is a good way to indicate who you would like to run for office in the future..... Good question.......

Do you think Ron Paul would have tried if it were not for Ralph Nader....

It may have been, because they felt they did not have a choice..... Ron Paul is appealing to the optimistic youth and I think that is wonderful...

Re: What can I say to convince a Mitt Romney supporter to come along the Ron Paul train?

When it gets down to it, many people are supporting or voting for reasons that do not make a lot of sense. Consider the following I have heard:
"I will not vote for no N***er for president."
"I want someone other than a Bush or Clinton in the white house."
"Mormons belong to a cult."

All of these people are voting for someone (or against some one). None of these have to do with Abortion, the Economy or the war in Iraq.

Now consider how many candidate are "running as an outsider..." and how many of these candidates have been in politics for years, some decades.

Your best bet is to say, I am for Ron Paul because... and state what you like about your candidate. Electability really should not be an issue but it is. There are some strong, loud "anti-" groups this year. I try to vote FOR someone as opposed to against some one.

Anybody but...(insert name here) is a pretty poor way to choose the leader of the free world.

And, no I am not voting for RP. After reading his positions in his own words, I feel he may be the worst of the bunch.
