This is what a Police State Looks like
So, if someone could tell me, if you know of the incident, what the kid did that caused him to be thrown to the ground. Because from the police tape, it looks like he didnt do anything.

Re: This is what a Police State Looks like
The only guess I can think of is trespassing. That kind of looks like a hotel or something he's standing in front of, and the fact that the part of the sidewalk that he's standing on is painted red kind of connotes that it is private property. Pretty shitty reason for throwing a guy to the ground though

Re: This is what a Police State Looks like
Well the fact that the tape is carefully edited denies us the opportunity to know if he precipitated being thrown to the ground.
The narrator tries to paint this video as unbiased because "it's (from) their (the police) viewpoint."
Were this UN-edited footage that would be true.
But she's edited this to show what she wants and obscure what she doesn't.
Reminds me a little of the Rodney King tape.
That 8 seconds of tape looks really bad, but the WHOLE video paints a different picture. He started out by attacking the cops, and repeatedly resisted arrest. Sure it took a lot of cops a great deal of effort to subdue him, but that 8 seconds would never have occured had he simply surrendered in the first place.
So why did our sidewalk guy do? Makes one wonder...

Re: This is what a Police State Looks like
Little off subject, but in houston, about 2 months ago, there was security footage of a police officer shooting a 14 year old in the back that was running away.... The judge dismissed the case.........

Re: This is what a Police State Looks like
It showed enough of him that he wasn't doing anything that would suggest that that kind of force was necessary.

I wouldn't agree. It really didn't show enough of what care before for me to make a judgement call.
But feel free to disagree.

In every scene, he was standing there protesting. That was the intent.

Re: This is what a Police State Looks like
He may have done something that she edited out, but at the time he wasnt talking back or showing any signs of violence. They used unnecessary force from what I saw.
His situation not withstanding, do you agree to the point of the video? What do you think the cops are going to do with the video they were shooting? Does anyone else feel that cops are becoming more and more like robots? Doing anything and evrerything they are told without question? Thats why I got out of the Marines. I never agreed to instant obedience to orders. If I didnt agree, or thought there was a smarter way to do it I spoke out.

It's a very disturbing video. You can't tell me the Goverment doesn't keep tabs on people.
They are now talking about a national ID card.
Our freedom is drying up fast.

What's better - robotic police, or more human police? Aren't many policemen criticized, villainized, demonized for making errors? For using too much force when they erroneously thought a situation was dangerous?
Look, there are bad policemen everywhere. Of course there are going to be instances of police brutality. The state should deal with them accordingly, and on fair judgment of whether the cops are actual slime or just made a split-second decision that was, in retrospect, unwise.
I'm just skeptical that this person did nothing to deserve a reaction from the police...

Are you serious? You would rather live in a world where men have complete control over the decisions of the enforcers? Thats a great idea.......
Its not the ignorance of police officers that I am afraid of, ignorant people are a part of life. Its that these guys are being told to silence people that are speaking out about injustices in our country. And they follow it mindlessly. It also doesnt help that they are told to either do it or go find another job. Yet another trap for the wage slaves.

This is so true it scares me! I work with the government, and know what they can do.
I will always have an old car without Sat Radio, as that is a #1 tracking device. And the National ID is the second!
And it will only get worse!

I would rather live in a world where everyone is held accountable for their actions. That includes policemen who use unnecessary force, as well as citizens who commit a crime. A policeman's job, in the context of a protest, is to gauge the peace and act if they feel that peace is soon to be broken. We have a right to peaceful protest. We do not have a right to stage an unpeaceful, dangerous protest. If you feel the moral imperative to stage an unpeaceful protest, go right ahead. But please accept the accountability for your actions.
Again, I can't deny that in the video it certainly looks like this person has not passed into the realm of unpeaceful protest. And maybe I am too naive, too trusting to suspect that the police - no, the governing structure commanding from the top - are entirely to blame for this situation. But despite your unkind sarcasm, I do seriously believe this. I apologize if this upsets you further.

Re: This is what a Police State Looks like
I believe it is in the constitution.
Freedom of assembly right?
As long as they stay peaceful.
Hrm, seems to me like that policeman either has a temper or the guy was trespassing

I expect it's the later as I recall there were no other protesters in that particular vicinity. The nearest as I recall was about 10-15 feet or more away. And wasn't that the entrance to some building he was in front of?
