XP service pack 3 from Windows update

The beta release of XP service pack 3, straight from Microsoft updates.

The best way to do this is, copy and paste below text and save as anything.txt

echo XPSP3 registry key has been set.  pause


Rename to anything.cmd. Double click on new file to execute, then run windows update to get sp3...

Once you have downloaded the file, login as administrator and run the file by double clicking it. Wait for the Confirmation Message on screen.

The Above file adds a few entries to the Windows Registry that makes Microsoft think that you are a part of the Private beta program.

Check for new updates on Windows Update. You should now see Windows XP SP3 listed in the available updates.

Download and install it. Reboot whenever necessary

well , it's not all that bad when you look back at '98 ... and it's still better than vista has proven to be thus far .

Thanks for posting, but I'm worried about the whole 'beta' thing. I'll wait for the final release and hopefully a similar install procedure will work OK.

I have been using sp3 for about 4 weeks now without the first problem. I haven't really noticed any difference at all.

Microsoft now offers it to everyone.
