I noticed this folder is taking up 2.2 gigs of space, do I need anything or everything in there?

How does it get in there in the first place?

screens below. w/descriptions:

Contents of Temp folder. Almost all icons below folders are .tmp files, 470 of them taking up 28 MB.

----------------

Contents of Nero13390, created October 27, 2007, taking up 600+ MB.

----------------

Contents of Nero13390/Cab 580 files, 565 MB

----------------

Contents of Nero13390/Cab/D6C89E66, largest file in folder

thanks for any help I get on this.

Re: Temp Files on HD :wtf:

wowee mom !!

yeah , you might want to save some of them ... like the "nero .exe" and a few others .
many of the temp files are just that . i would suggest getting "ccleaner" , setting it up to nail just the temp files and run it .
hmmm ... it might just be that nero has installed itself in your temp folder ??!! i dunno ... more coffee is needed on my end .

heh ... your's is the example of why i always tell a program/video where to be dl'ed to , a special dl folder with subfolders for every file ... this helps seperate the wheat from the chaff .

Re: Temp Files on HD :wtf:

probably ok to delete all of those.

most programs, when you install them, decompress and/or download the installation files to your temp directory and run the install from that location. Once the program's installed you really don't need the files any more.

I wipe out my temp directory all the time.

Re: Temp Files on HD :wtf:

don't worry about those last few files - those are usually status / log files that run with your background processes & you can't delete them because they are in use by those processes. Anything that DOES delete, is non-critical.

There are some programs out there that will empty this directory automatically, but I personally prefer doing it myself every month or so.
