Okay so the story is a rather short one. Many years ago before I ever got a DVD burner I thought I was backing up my DVD collection. I basically ripped a whole bunch of movies from the DVD to my hard drive. Now as is usually the case some of my older DVDs are not running so well, so I am trying to burn them to DVDs (with my new computer, etc.)....

Aside from the fact that I was stupid and didn't rip the special features and stuff, the only problem/annoyance is that I can burn the movies, but they don't have the chapters embedded in them. I don't particularly care about the chapters being in exactly the same place or anything, but just an efficient way to fast foward.

So I am looking for a program that basically allows the authoring of chapters into a movie before burning, so I can "chapter skip" when I watch it on my DVD player. I know Nero Vision can do this, but I was looking for a free alternative to Nero...

If anyone has any suggestions or links I would appreciate it.

If, as you say, Nero does this, why not just download one of the versions posted in this very forum? Those are free, for all intents & purposes...

I have used Nero 8 and it the activations don't work well for the thrid party stuff (Nero Vision is one of them). The burner works fine, but to get into some of the bundled programs like Nero Vision you need seperate authentication, which none of the keygen, type stuff works for me.

I will try Nero 7 tonight, but I was figuring it would be more of the same problem.
