Daddy's little girl
On 20/20 last night there was an interesting story of an 18 year old Orange County Girl who died by crashing her Dads Porsche into a toll booth. A CHP officer emailed the photos to someone and of course they spread like wildfire. The family has hired a company to "morally" combat these photos by appealing to peoples human side to take them down, since legally they have the right to post them.
You can read the story here:
http://www.ocregister.com/ocregiste...cle_1538883.php
You can see the very graphic photos here, these photos are NWS!
http://www.dattaway.us/crash/11.html
What would you do if you had a site that was posting these photos?

Re: Daddy's little girl
This thread is for serious discussion only, guys. No banter.
I'd leave them up if they were on my site. Why? Because I can. I understand where they are coming from, but its not like having them up or taking them down makes the fact that it happened go away.

Re: Daddy's little girl
When I was a kid, my Dad a was a Cop.
I had to go to the hospital a lot as a child, and to make the appointments, my dad had to take me to work with him. He work in the Traffic division.
I would have to sit in the office for about two hours each trip (about once a month).
I would sit and look at the pictures of the car wrecks, as I thought they where cool, and sometimes, I saw pictures of the people that had been involved.
Some where minor, and some where dead. I was maybe 5 years old at this time.
As a small boy, I thought it was cool to see these pics, including the people, because I could not mentally correlate the fact some of these people where real, and now Dead.
As an adult, I cannot imagine the pain this family has to go through, It must be tough.
And as a young sister, it must truly be traumatic.
I am guessing the CHP will say they are not their pics, and will try to get out of trouble.
This is sad, and yet, it is going to happen even more often.

The CHP officer admitted they were his and that he emailed them to be used for "educational purposes"

Re: Daddy's little girl
Out of morbid curiosity, I saw the pictures yesterday and was shocked at how bad that accident must have been. At least you know her death was quick and probably relatively painless. I wonder what she was thinking in her last moments...

Acts like a impact panel to show what can happen when people
dont respect automobiles. In my opinion these should be seen
by teenage kids. I feel for the family, it is never easy to handle.

Re: Daddy's little girl
Similar to joerockheads experiences, my father was a cop and worked in the forensics and investigative divisions. This means he took the photos at the crime scenes and occasionally, I would assist by holding and working the flash around the scene for complete illumination. I understood these people were dead and would not come back and/or talk to his/her kids, etc. Quickly, I learned what death meant.
Having said that, I don't have a problem with the photos being posted, as they do have some educational qualities; however, from what I have seen on the news, the family has some complete, and total, assholes emailing the pictures to them with horrible messages. People doing this are complete assholes and deserve an ass kicking. (I know this a serious forum, but I'm serious about what I'm saying)
The internet has provided many with access to what were local events; in doing so, this has provided many with access to the families affected by the local events.
Learning from things?? GOOD! Harassing the familes?? BAD!!

Re: Daddy's little girl
I actually think they should be taken down. It would be nice to think that they would go to "educate" others but in truth they aren't. Nobody would release these to schools or teens, it would be too graphic (and politically incorrect). People just see it for the gore, the shock value (I admit, I'm no different, I looked at them too out of curiosity).
Personally, if a family member died I wouldn't want the pictures floating around on the internet. That would traumatize me more. That's just me though.

Re: Daddy's little girl
If anyone harasses the family with those pictures, send them to jail. 30 days in jail might teach them to not be a fucking ass monkey that deserves worse. If a kid puts that stuff in the other girls locker, kick his/her ass out of school faster than the speed of light. If people can't respect the grieving families going through a rough time, they don't deserve half the rights they currently have. A slap on the wrist needs to be replaced with something that will feels more like a strong kick to the balls.
