Hey all, i was just re-installing xp on the laptop, and when i come to enter the product key the keyboard will not work properly. Some 'odd' keys work like the caps lock work but most the important ones that are needed do not.
Just to highlight what i have done so far and failing;
Restarted the laptop
Tryed laptop in bios and the keyboard works fine
connected usb keyboard (same problem)
when at the regional and language options window i can press left and right but as soon as i press next the keyboard is gone at the product key screen.
When i press backspace a sqaure/rectangle appear, i can not continue without the key (key invaild window).
Very unusual

hi it worked i don't know how but i typed it in and all when ok, but when i got onto the main user name i knew the keyboard was still a bit dodgy, so i opened notepad and when i press certain keys it is the same as the CTRL key being held constantly.
What could this be?
i can not type with this
i have a dell 2650
