When will they learn.......
The misguided, conniving Democratic members of our Congress are at it again. They are trying to cover their own behinds with a common tactic they often use…. SHIFT THE BLAME/ FOCUS!!!! Now they are after Rush Limbaugh over a comment he made concerning a former soldier who lied about his service and actions he committed when he was in Iraq. Rush called the former soldier a “phony soldier” on air while talking to a caller on his national radio program. Rush called Jesse MacBeth a phony soldier after he claimed to have committed war crimes while in Iraq along with receiving a Purple Heart while in the service. Both are lies and he never even made it to Iraq.
But the lowly Dems want to try and say he is calling all who served and disagree with the war “Phony Soldiers”!!! Why would they do that? Because they have nothing to offer now. They only want to bring others down to show you and I that they, the lowly Dems, are the only ones who can save us from ourselves. They don’t want you to think about this because you might see through it. They really don’t want us to talk about this online, because then we will pick them apart for the LIARS that they are. They have been running with “we can’t win in Iraq” so long that now that were are making headway they are running SCARED AS HELL!!!!! If we start to make anymore progress in Iraq, then we will see that they are using the way are the war as a political tool to get what they want. And now they won’t even admit that they CAN’T pull us out of Iraq. Regardless or how you feel about the War, we are there and we need to finish what we started, good or bad, right or wrong. If we leave you and I will be fighting in our streets, from our home these people who’s sole goal is to see the USA wiped of the planet!!! And they KNOW IT!!! That is why this is going on, they are running scared and think they will now play the “Honorable Defender” of the troops. If they were so interested in defending the troops they wouldn’t give $1,000,000 to build a Woodstock Museum in New York (guess who did that?), or any of the other complete wastes of our tax money. They would buy more body armor, armored Humvees and let the soldiers do their jobs!!!
GROW UP AND SEE WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE REAL WORLD!!!

Re: When will they learn.......
I think the "real world" you see and the actual "real world" are vastly different things.
Dude, what you see as a "clever political tool" is a SCAM and an expertly crafted one. The way it goes is, the Dems are going to make a big stink, like this, villify the Repubs, blow lots of smoke up the American people's asses and then when they roll over again when the next phony war based on lies happens, they'll say, "aw, shucks, well, we tried!"
But it goes deeper than pure laziness and lack of backbone.
When the Democrats took control of congress in 2006 it was supposedly with a clear mandate that the United States people wanted the wars based on lies to end and that those responsible were to be held accountable. It's very simple, remove all troops from the region and begin impeachment hearings against the rightful parties. If you're in majority in Congress that's easy, right?
Well, sorry Johnny, it doesn't work that way.
It's not that they CAN'T pull us out of Iraq, it's that they WON'T!!!
Every major Democratic candidate - except Gravel and Kucinich who are being "(s)elected out" of the race by the media - is admittedly PRO WAR backed by major global industrial interest and just a bit of blackmail by certain foreign powers. Just look at what they've said, publically. Shit, Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes, even President Bush himself are aiding Hillary Clinton in her campaign so that they can keep the continutiy of war going smoothly!!! It's all admitted in the mainstream news!!!
Look, stop thinking in terms of D versus R because they are bought and paid for by the SAME PEOPLE! At the end of the day, we're all getting fucked AND being stuck with the bill for these fiascos! All of these bastards want more wars, bigger empire, less freedom for all, and YOUR money in their pockets. THAT'S what's happening in the "real world" not some ninying donkey elephant gay sex orgy.

Re: When will they learn.......
Lies, deceit, manipulation, treachery - all core components of modern day politican. I really wish the media would display Kucinich & Gravel better, as they are the ONLY ones who can make a difference.
However, we are in Iraq and it is true we must finished what we started. I've always been opposed to the war, but now we are in too deep - and I believe thats how Bush wants to end his presidency - forcing the next President to continue his war.
One solution - "anyone that has ever served in a political office anywhere, for any reason, can no longer serve. ever." And the corruption will be set free!

Re: When will they learn.......
Glad to see folks are figuring out that the two dominant political parties are, in many ways, in bed together. There hasn't been a strong third party, and never will be; the two dominant parties work together to keep things the way they are.
I don't agree with HOW the war is being run. I don't really agree with why we are (supposedly) there; however, I fully support the troops out on the line, stationed in foreign countries, and manning the posts here in our yard. We toppled a government and are now morally responsible for assisting with the creation of a new government (for better or worse). We did this in Germany, Japan, and Korea. If the Dems were elected on a mandate to remove our troops, the Dems can EASILY do just that, by not funding the war. Congress controls the purse strings. I'd much rather see some of this cash put in to the VA to care for our returning wounded soldiers and their families.

I've been a Libertarian for years and have always referred to both parties together as Demopublicans. Yep they get their paychecks from the same bosses, and those bosses are not the American People.

Re: When will they learn.......
I have to say that I am greatly encourged by the well thought out responses to this thread. I too believe that we are screwed regardless of who we elect because none of them gives "the People" a second thought unless we serve a purpose they profit from. But I do agree with us going into Iraq, I just think Bush has done everything else about as wrong as you can. The military is not a police force, they are a COMBAT force. And if you don't want them to kill all who threaten them don't put them where they are threatened!!!

I am not sure how to adress this, it is an incredibly wide ranging statement. Are you talking about how the Administration has handled possible terrorists here or the Administrations policies as they apply to you and I?

Re: When will they learn.......
it's a fucking talking point, just like the ad that move on did with petraeus. the republicans pounced on that calling for it's dismissal, and calling the ad outrageous, even though it was SUPPOSED to be taken as a joke! the media needs to focus less on these talking points and trivial pieces of information, and more on the substance of what's going on around the world. the same stories over and over, reported by different achors, with different shows is getting really old. reporters, and the media are supposed to keep the public informed on what's going on around the world. you don't see much coming out of darfur lately, and what's happening in burma is repulsive. people need to stop paying attention to these little tidbits of shit, and focus on what matters in the world. as to the so-called mandate that the dems swept in on with the 2006 elections, and how they would vote to end the war, they can't you need a 60% majority, or 60 votes to do anything in the senate, and they only have 51 to 49 majority. aside from that obvious hurdle, the republicans will call anyone who votes to cut off funding traitors, and unpatriotic, something most dems are not willing to live with. the house has a larger margin, but still doesn't have the votes to deny funding, even though some republicans are on the dems side. the senate did vote to authorize pulling out of iraq, and the resolution passed 56-44, i think--could be wrong on the ratio, with some key republicans voting on the dems side. the vast majority of the american public wants some sort of withdrawl out of iraq, but the president, and those republicans still loyal to him, are simply out of touch with the rest of the country. will the situation get worse when and if we ever pull out, maybe, who really knows the answer to that question. the people who say it will get much worse have been wrong about absolutely everything up until this point, so how is their assessment somehow right (ie cheney, rumsfeld, wolfowitz)?! and the whole issue of setting a timetable for withdrawl, don't you think that the insurgents will know when we start to pull out, it's not like moving 160,000 troops and all the equipment, vehicles, and gear is done really quickly. they will simply wait it out until we do leave, or have had enough, and then resume fighting for control of the state. who will have control, again who knows, iran has huge influence over the shia in iraq, and the sunni, up until recently have been in power for at least 30 years and aren't likely to give up authority. iraq was better with saddam in power, he posed zero threat to us, and couldn't do much of anything. now you have a destabilized region, not even a state any longer, with three fighting factions all wanting a piece of the pie. the kurds, while largely autonomous, still want influence in the are, the sunni who once controlled the state, and the majority shia, who will probably run the country and try to force other factions out. in a region that isn't exactly known for stability, we have severely limited any chance of ever gaining stability in the region any time within the near future. iran is now way more powerful, than it ever was, syria is coming back, israel is scared for it's life because we fucked up the area even more than it was. afghanistan is even starting to go back to how it was before, largely because of the military being bogged down in iraq. iraq was never a terrorist state, and posed no threat to us, but saudi arabia is, but we wouldn't dare touch them, they have all the oil. at the most what i would've liked to have seen done in iraq is it should've been handled like bosnia, bomb the shit out of it, and send in a multinational peace force to break up the region into a few isolated regions. this is probably what will happen anyway, even though most of the iraqi's who can, or could have left the country, or have died. and the whole, they'll follow us home shit is simply preposterous, this is simply another scare tactic from the republicans trying to make you think you are somehow safer on their watch. do attacks happen, yes, but is this a reason to drive fear into the public consciousness, not really. the only platform that the republican party can run on is that they are somehow better at protecting america than the democrats, and that they will protect you from the scary gays, and save all babies from being aborted. that's all they ever talk about, we get it you guys good, democrats bad. i am a registered independent, and i would vote republican if i agreed with what one of them said, although ron paul is pretty close, but will never win even a primary. abraham lincoln's party has surely changed, they are supposed to stand for small government, but have increased the federal bureaucracy to limitless proportions, and want to have an amendment on marriage and abortion, how is that smaller government? the funny thing is the small percentage of rich people benefit from republican policies, but the average middle class person, and to even a greater extent the poor, are being screwed, not only by this administration, but by the republican party. outsourcing jobs, the ridiculous tax breaks, keeping wages low, corporate fraud, i could go on. i'm sure all of the red-neck, right-wing republicans will be pissed about my rambling, so you can all call me a liberal, or left-wing nut job, or whatever rush limbaugh i calling democrats these days. i'll leave you with this quote:
If by a “liberal” they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a “liberal,” then I’m proud to say I’m a “liberal.”

Re: When will they learn.......
I have issues with the Democrats, though I find them slightly less disgusting than the Republicans.
Having said that...............dude, did you listen to what Limbaugh actually said? He didn't even mention the name of that specific guy till like, two minutes after his "phony soldiers" comment. He didn't say "Jesse MacBeth, the phony soldier." He was talking about "phony soldiers". PLURAL!!! And the caller that this comment was in response to didn't mention that guy either. He actually said that "real soldiers" want to be in Iraq and will tell you everything's going fine. The implication being that real soldiers always tow the party line. And yet, Limbaugh, who NEVER SERVED, feels he has the right to question the patriotism of soldiers? Fuck him. And, frankly, fuck anyone who defends him on this. Then you paint the Dems as people who don't support the troops, and act like saying we can't win in Iraq is lowering morale or something. Well, Limbaugh's show is on Armed Forces Radio. Frankly, I'm guessing that someone who never served attacking the patriotism of the soldiers in Iraq is a bit more demoralizing than saying that the situation doesn't look good.
Look, the whole thing about the bill condemning what he said...................it's fucking stupid. But then, so was the bill condemning move-on.org. Congress shouldn't be wasting time with this shit. But, if you're going to condemn one side, you have to condemn the other as well, lest you become a hypocrite.
By the way, I feel I should point out that "Betray-us" came from Limbaugh's show as well, when he suggested that Sen. Hagel (who, btw, is a Vietnam vet) should be called "Senator Betrayus." Apparently, it was funny and ok to say then, for some reason. Not to mention the whole smear campaign against Max Cleland in the Senate. Here's a multiple amputee, who lost some limbs in Vietnam, and they painted him as some kind of coward. Jim Webb (another Democratic Vietnam vet) just last week or the week before proposed a bill that made it so that, however long you're deployed in Iraq, they have to give you that much time at home too, to rest. The Republicans who said they'd support him on this (John Warner, I'm looking at you) stabbed him in the back on that. And yet you act like the Democrats are the ones who don't care about the troops?
And as far as having to finish our job........................what difference does it make? Do you really think it makes a difference whether we pull out now or ten years from now? There will still be Sunnis and Shiites, they'll still be fighting..................oh, and Al Qaeda wasn't even there until after we were. The people in Iraq, for the most part, don't want to attack us. They had nothing to do with anything. In fact, as bad of a guy as Saddam was (and I doubt even the most liberal person would debate the fact that he was an evil, evil man), at least he killed terrorists in his country when they tried to move in. And it seems like just about every Middle East expert I've seen weigh in on this issue has said that if Al Qaeda did try to really move into Iraq, they'd be slaughtered. The Iraqis don't want them there.
It's time to stop fucking babying them. They're stalling and taking their sweet time so we'll stay there longer. We've fucked up their country enough already, it's time to leave before we do even more damage.
You wanna talk about the real world? Ok, let's do that. This is the fucking real world: The Republicans don't give a damn about you, the soldiers, the Iraqis, or anyone else except other rich people. In fact, they hate the brown peolpe and don't give a damn if they die or not. And they don't care how many American lives are taken in this stupid little conquest. The Democrats, while they may indeed be against the war, though that's debatable, are fucking pussies too scared to do anything. They're the majority party in both houses of Congress right now (granted, only barely in the Senate, but there are enough moderate-liberal republicans to back them up, it seems like), and yet they're still acting as if they have to worry about losing elections, and being called unpatriotic. Not only do they not have to be subservient little bitches anymore, they were elected to do the opposite. And they haven't done any of that. The way they handled the failure of that Habeas Corpus reinstatement bill shows this off perfectly.
So to sum it up..................the Democrats do support the troops, by wanting them to come home now so less get killed, but are for some reason scared to be called unpatriotic by the Republicans. The Republicans don't give a rat's ass, and sure as hell don't support the troops (why else would Blackwater get paid more than our troops? And the VA hospitals? How about the funding that they didn't provide? After all, they were the ones in control of such things till this year...), and yet like to brand everyone else as what they themselves are. How's that for passing the blame.
I think it's about time YOU joined the real world, my friend.

Re: When will they learn.......
I am in total agreement with 93crawler & RaymondBabit.
Rush Limbaugh is like a giant turd that just wont flush! Republicans and Democrats are both bought and sold by big business. This war is a scam for oil. There are worse atrocities being commited out there like Darfur and Burma that need police action and will never get it for lack of capitlal gains by this country and the Giant Megacorporations that actual run it. Just look at the Suddan or Hatti.
The thing is that even when some poor bastard comes out and says "hey, what the fruck." He never gets anywhere. Just look at Jimmy Carter. He is a true humanitarian with a Nobel peace prize and all. He's allways been trying to promote peaceful solutions to war and poverty. They would hardly give him the time of day when he was Pres. Hardly any of his agenda ever got passed by congress. Why? Same reason Ol' Georgey Porgey vetoed health care for poor children! Need that money fer' oil and power and guns!
I am for our troops. I think a lot young people join the service with good honorable intentions. I never knew half the shite I know now about how things work (and really always have) when I was young. I have always been opposed and suspicious of government but have always loved my country. I still do despite the way things go down in DC. Most of my family has been in one branch of the service on the other. I personally did not join. I decided to feed the homeless, protest against nuclear weapons and for equal rights. I have marched with nuns, I have smoked kind with vets. I have fed, sheltered and counseled many Americans from all walks of life. Each with their own stories and opinions. I still hold belief that this is the greatest country in the world because of the spirit of the people who live here. I will always be against the oppression of people whether they are my enemy or friend.
I will always be against war and violence of any kind no matter how justified it may be. Why? Because innocent people are the ones who get hurt, including soldiers. Do I think we are the aggressors in this war? Not as of now. Do I think this war is justified? Not really, unless you take into account how much of the world's economy is at stake and how some control by American forces in this region would benefit our economy and power. Which by the way is faltering due to the war and all of the wonderful politicking by the current admin.
What is the answer? There are a lot of political scientists who can answer that much better then I. Maybe we should listen to some of these Veterans who have been to War and have seen an done War. Ask them and they are saying to bring them home and to end this now before this war continues like a Vietnam. So many people died. Yes, many died before we got there, and continued after we left. Maybe there is another solution. Maybe the people of Iraq have to decide. Maybe we need to decide as well who we want to represent us in Government. As for Rush Limbaugh and his sophomoric bull shit, fuck him.

Re: When will they learn.......
I need to break up the sentences, and be more grammatically correct, I just re-read my post and almost got lost. In any case, as far as the "pork-barrel" spending goes, you could just as easily point the finger at the Republicans. Remember Senator Ted Stevens, the most senior senator from the great state of Alaska? Aside from his hilarious analogy about the internet (look it up on you tube, if you haven't seen it), does anyone remember his bridge to nowhere? A multi-million dollar bridge that connected the mainland in Alaska to some remote, isolated, unpopulated island.
There are countless instances on both sides of the isle regarding this type of spending. Both sides do their fair share of constituent-pleasing spending. I can tell you what a whole lot of Faux News, although CNN or MSNBC aren't much better either. You seem to only post rather meaningless bullet points that don't really matter that much, you should focus on more substantive news, and information.
I lived in a red state for the majority of my life, although I don't any longer, thank god! I have had plenty of experience with narrow-minded, redneck, republicans like yourself. Read the book Cobra II, that will open your eyes about the situation in Iraq, or read The World Is Flat, by Thomas Friedman, another very good book. There are countless other books out there detailing what a debacle Iraq really is, and there is no real solution--so should we stay there another ten years? Why, will it really change.
The political system in Washington is broken, and both sides use it to their advantage. Everything from funding campaigns, to how bills are passed, to lobbyists, to the electoral college is in need of either scrapping all-together, or massive updating. This will never happen though, as all of the politicians like the way the system works. If only we had a parliamentary system, that would allow for more transparent government.
I just recently watched Sicko, Micheal Moores latest film, and as much as he's blasted by the right for Fahrenheit, this movie should make everyone in America upset--especially the middle class. Now Fahrenheit, in my view never lived up to the hype, but Sicko, and Bowling for Columbine are his best films. I'm sure you all know the premise for Sicko, so I'll spare you the storyline. But let me say this, aside from the Iraq war, health care should be the number one issue in the 2008 elections. And really should be even more important than the war in Iraq, because it effects everyone.
This is something that you haven't heard the republicans talk about that much, and they probably won't talk until forced to do so. What I don't get, is why the media has been in on making the Canadian and European health care system out to be so bad. From the accusations of long wait times, to not being able to pick your doctor, to having to wait forever to get prescription drugs, to doctors not making that much money. Why shouldn't everyone contribute to a system that helps everyone regardless of income, race, gender, or age? I did a senior project on this type of stuff, and the more I researched it, the more I wondered why we haven't adopted such a system. But then I thought of all the insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies, and politicians not being able to profit of the sick, and dying Americans, and quickly realized why--although I already knew anyway.
What is being proposed by most of the Democratic candidates is NOT socialized medicine, but it is socialized insurance--there is a difference! Under this type of system, you can choose to opt out of it, and get your own coverage, but like paying taxes to fund for schools, the USPS, police, and firefighters, you still have to pay for everyone else. You could also choose to get supplemental coverage as well, is so desired. I will someday be a M.D., and can't stand to think of anyone being denied care, because they don't have the right coverage. The cases Moore highlights in the movie are heartwrenching, and point to a ever-growing problem. The insurance companies simply don't want to provide care for you, because it costs the money. The drug companies charge ridiculous amounts of money for brand name drugs, that you can get in Canada and Mexico for incredibly less.
I didn't mean to get off topic, but I do believe this is the single greatest issue facing America right now, and is just as important as the war in Iraq. When you vote, if you do, ask yourself, who will be able to really reform healthcare--or at least try. Who will strengthen our economy, who will protect our environment, who will stand up for the middle class and the poor, who will restore the international community's faith in America? It certainly isn't any republican, and as much as the two parties are similar, they are different in these crucial areas.
