STD trouble

Last night I was watching one of the news channels and right before I dozed off, I heard them say something about gonorrhea "evolving" and how the regular "antibiotics" were not working anymore. I know that bacteria evolves and every few years, changes, but this sucks for everyone.
I'm currently and forever will be married, and am no longer in the free-for-all sex game, so I'm not worried about me so much, but I was wondering what the players and pimps thought about this situation??

Ok I just googled it and went right to the Washington Post. It seems to be fact and I was not just dreaming. Again I feel this is horrible, what do you think?

Re: STD trouble

Germs (bugs, bacteria, whatever you'd like to call them) evolve. We develop antibiotics to kill them off, but overuse can allow the bug to develop resistance to the medicine. This STD is just a single bug developing resistance to our medicine each day. Flesh eating bacteria? Just a bug that developed resistance to our medications. You get the picture.

How does the bacteria develop this resistance? Very easily. You have a sniffle or cough? Go to the doc and get an antibiotic. If it's not a bacteria (virus), you have exposed the bugs of the world to the medicine through contact, urine, etc. Do you use antibiotic soap?? You're helping the bugs of the world evolve to combat our medical reportoire.

What can we do? Wash our hands, use medicines when we TRULY need them, and take the entire amount of medications over the prescribed period of time. Ten pills in ten days means just that. Five pills over the same amount means exactly that. It's kind of easy......

I'm now a single guy and this type of thing makes me a bit uneasy.

Re: STD trouble

people also need to take their antibiotics for the full dosage. many cold medicines have a 5 day dosage period and most people take them until they are no longer sick. this aids in the evolution of the viruses b/c the drug is not allowed to completely kill off the virus. the cells that survive are stronger, and once spread are better prepared to survive the same antibiotic. please begin taking your antibiotics to the full dosage, for the sake of my body.

Re: STD trouble

I'm a pretty promiscuous dude and I rarelyuse rubbers. I've had a few scares before, but get my junk checked out a few times a year (like every two months).

The way I see it is this. If you lay with dogs, you are bound to catch fleas, right? So to me, if I wear a rubber, I'll pretty much screw any chick whereas if I know I'm not going to be sleeping with just any whore, I can be a little less careful.

I sleep with a lot of married/separated chicks. I know, it sucks, but hey, if it isn't me, it will be someone else. They are cleaner than some of the other chicks out there because they don't want to be having to explain that to the hubby.

Shit evolves every day. Flu, and other viurses are becoming immune to a whole bunch of meds. If in the end I can say I had a lot of freaky sex and satied (sp?) myself, then thats a plus.

I've heard of horror stories of chicks/dudes who saved it for a special person only to catch chlamydia or herpes their first time out.

Sucks to be them.

In review, wrap your burrito if you don't know which salsa you are going to be dipping it in. Else, screw familiar girls only.

Re: STD trouble

Yeah, condoms are always good =D

Over here in the UK, they're used, but not as much as they should, which is why the UK has the highest teen pregnancy rate in Europe -and we have one of the highest age of consents.

Condoms work roughly 99% of the time - she won't be wearing a t-shirt saying 'I've got such and such an STD", so wear a condom, just in case. Better to be safe than sorry! They're not really that expensive are they, and they are worth it.

Do you want a spotty dick or a couple of quid/dollars less in your wallet?

Re: STD trouble

Yes there are resistant strains of STDs and other germs. And the other posts are right, take antibiotics only for bacterial infections. They do not help the cold or flu. The big thing is for everyone to take antibiotics until the full course (usually 5 or 10 days) is through. The problem starts when someone feels better and then stops taking their meds. The germs that didn't get killed are now resistant to the drugs.

Now if you really don't want to sleep at night, get a copy of the Great Influenza. The story of the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic. It killed more people in a month than have died of AIDS ever. Then start reading about Avian flu pandemic preparations.
