Alicia Silverstone PETA Ad - *NWS Link*
So I have had a one track mind when it comes to this media bias keeping cooperate interests before our own.
Alicia Silverstone did a nude ad that was banned because of content (nudity). Houston was one of two test markets..... She looks great but this level of nudity can be seen on a number of other advertisements that have not been banned. I believe it is because of the organization and the ideas it is promoting....... What do you think.......
It is only 1.5 megs........

PS I don't want a thanks, I want to know what you think.........

Nudity? Where?
If that was banned for nudity then they banned it without even seeing it.

Well, that is not nudity! There are alot of corporate companies that use sexually suggestive commercials that are far worse, Calvin Klein, GoDaddy.com, and many others.
The message was completely missed. Although you did say it was aired in Houston, (talk about meat and potatoes). This was not the message the beef companies would want to be aired.

unbelievable hypocracy. beat, kill, kidnap, torture, burn, shoot, sell drugs to pay for wars, pollute, destroy, desecrate: all these things the Texan-Oil-Weapons cartel will permit and enjoy. But a *beautiful* woman making a point? They ban it.
America: WAKE UP. Please. We need you to take back your liberties and civilization before the idiots you granted power over your nation destroy us all.

Re: Alicia Silverstone PETA Ad - *NWS Link*
It had more to do with the message ("be vegetarian") rather than the nudity itself. It does contain a bit more nudity than usual (but by no means is it anything too revealing...I doubt most people would have found it really offensive if it had aired during the right time/on the right channel).
I am not surprised that a state like Texas (with so much cattle farming, meat production, etc) would ban this.
I also think TV stations don't like putting up preachy stuff (much in the same way they wouldn't air a commercial with a beautiful woman urging people to convert to Christianity or something). It might offend viewers, especially the meat loving ones.

An interesting POV, I agree totally with the first paragraph... And the second, but I would like to focus on the the fact that some people may be offended by someone coming out about being a vegitarian... She simply says that she is a vegitarian and it change her life. People say the very same thing about shoes, diets, cars, red-bull, quitting drinking, stopping smoking and more.. What do you think it is about eating meat that makes it different than smoking or other diets.....
I am not arguing, I am curious... From you and others please...........

Yes, but everybody knows that the commercial was funded by PETA. Obviously, the aim of the commercial would be to try to influence, or at the very least bring awareness, towards vegetarianism.
The difference between this statement and a lot of other merchandise based commercials (such as red bull, shoes, etc) is that this is a lifestyle, with a solid belief system behind it.
The government (state or whatever) can put up anti-smoking and pro-healthy diet campaigns because there is solid research on how these changes will affect people, and the benefits they would bring to society.
The same can't really be said for veganism/vegetarianism (though there is a lot of arguments about this). There is also the whole idealogy that goes behind the whole lifestyle. THere isn't much of a belief system for the eating healthy campaigns (ex: the 5 a day vegetable/fruit thing) or in the commericials that just try to sell stuff. But there is for animal cruelty, animal rights, etc.
That is what I think may offend people, especially in a state like Texas.

its very hard for someone to understand something when their pay cheque depends on them not understanding this
its time for governments to learn Prohibition doesn't work, never did, never will
