by any chance are you using McAfee? it maybe the McAfee SiteAdvisor bug. try updating mcafee or better using a better ani-virus (AVG/AVAST).

or disable the site advisor /uninstall it

my comp did have mcafee but it expired, it does however have the site advisor still installed. uninstalling it will cure the problem? i'm using nod 32 for an anti-virus, by the way. thanks to both of you.
