I support Ron Paul. Here is why.
I support Ron Paul because he is an honest politician, an oxymoron these days. He returns a portion of his congressional office budget every year and does not participate in a lucrative congressional pension plan.
Ron Paul is a Constitutional purist. He has never said yes to any law that conflicts with the powers specifically assigned to the government by the United States' Constitution. His nickname on the floor is "Dr. No", Dr., because he is an OB/GYN when he does not represent his district.
Ron Paul is consistent. When running for President as a Libertarian in 1988, he was saying the same things he is saying today. So that way I know he doesn't say something because he feels I want to hear it. He says it because he means it. His intentions are genuine, otherwise, he wouldn't campaign in front of teenagers who are too young to vote for him, like he did back in 1988.
Ron Paul opposes internet regulation. Because the internet technology is getting better and better and because there is no censorship, except for obvious excpetions like, for example, child pornography, television networks and newspapers are loosing bigger and bigger chunk of viewers every year. And that is understandable. People don't want some one else to decide what is the truth. People want to look at the facts and pass judgement on their own. Even the "We report, you decide" network can't brag about that. The virtual wild west is the last frontier for independent and unregulated news. Ron Paul want to keep it that way.
Ron Paul opposes the income tax. Income tax punishes hard work and rewards lazyness. United States existed just fine before income tax, which was enacted in 1913. In fact, income tax is largely the reason 1776 is known for what it's known for. The King levied taxes on the possessions far away and the colonists were outraged that they had no say in the government matters. If I make $15/hour and work 40 hours a week, I would like to receive $600/week, not whatever is the difference between that and the deducted income tax. And for those who are worried about government's ability to finance itself, the income tax is only 1/3 of the entire United States' government tax income.
Ron Paul wants to make the War on Drugs a state-to-state issue. So if Texas, the state I live in, decides that, instead of busting on people who sit in their own home blowing trees, they should be hunting down people who actually hurt other people, like, say, thieves, murderers, child predators, it can do that, without any fear that the Federal Government interferes and steps outside of the powers that the Constutition of the United States has limited it too. I am not a drug dealer or user. But I know that the War on Drugs has been used as an excuse to ignore habeas corpus, the right to secure papers, the right to privacy against a search unless a judge's warrant is issued and other rights against government abuse of the populace. I also know that making drugs illegals raises their prices. Drug dealing is a business issue, and thus, obeys business laws. When there is a record mark up on an illegal drug and a potential to become a multimillionair literally overnight over a successful drug deal, there will alway be drug dealing, tough laws or not.
Ron Paul is for states' rights. All the US government is supposed to do is make sure that the 27 amendemnts are enforced in all 50 states plus posessions. The rest is decided by a state. They say that Ron Paul favors, or opposes gay marriage. That is not true. Ron Paul wants to make it a state issue. They also say that Ron Paul want to outlaw abortion. That is not true. Ron Paul is personally pro-life and has never stated different, but he wants to make it a state to state issue, as indicated in his The Sanctity of Life Act of 2005.
Ron Paul is for America's true independence from banks controlling the money flow. Founding fathes knew that independence with private banks running your finances is meaningless, therefore Constitution has specified whose job was it to regulate commerce and money matters. Out moneys are not backed up by a tangible assets and thus, our property is not ours.
Which reminds me. Ron Paul is also for property rights. He wants to repeal the Property taxes so I would own my land, instead of merely renting it to the government.
I know I can count on Ron Paul.
I don't agree on everything with him, but I believe that when an honest man like him is behind the Oval Room desk, our country can do no wrong.

I don't know, he's won some big polls as of late, gains more popularity as of late, and his only negative is his love for freedom...if the current trend continues, he could very easily take the primary.

Re: I support Ron Paul. Here is why.
I have been looking at this guy for a while now, and cannot find very many points that I do not agree with him on. I completely agree with his statement that we brought 9-11 on ourselves. Not the american people, but with our policy. We have been bombing these counties to secure our oil intrest for far to long. Wouldnt you want to attack and kill someone if they came over to your back yard, bombed your house and drilled a hole in the ground? The only problem I see is that big corporations still control our governent, and Diebold will probably end up choosing our president for us. I will be voting for him in 08, I only hope that it helps.

Re: I support Ron Paul. Here is why.
He is probably the the only chance that republicans will keep control, and the party is begining to see this.......
It should be a wake up call too, it has been a long time sence I have seen such a devirse crowd back a republican, and with out the help of:
"Vote for me if you don't want to pay as many taxes."
It is just a legal spin on buying votes and it was both bushes platforms and regans.... Wonder if any of these guys would have made it into office with out offering compensation?

Re: I support Ron Paul. Here is why.
as an european citizen i can only hope you folks will vote for a honest person without attachments to oil- and other industries, who will bring back real moral standards in politics. people outside the US cannot vote for US-president, but their lives are nevertheless very much influenced by the president you will elect! good luck to all of you who choose for human rights instead of greediness and simplicity!

Re: I support Ron Paul. Here is why.
I would love to see somebody like Paul be elected, but without a stronger grass-roots machine behind him I don't see it happening. The current two-party system is extremely strong and almost impossible to unseat.
Here's hoping though ...

Re: I support Ron Paul. Here is why.
I'm usually up on things, but have never really heard of him until now. I'm off to research some things.... I appreciate the Euro view that who we (as US citizens) elect has an impact on everyone else in the world. Additionally, good points about hating those who bomb your home and drill a hole in your backyard. At times, many nations have remarked on our countries youth (approximately 230 years) and what it takes to really be a player on the world stage. One day, maybe we'll reach a maturity level to go with our age....

Re: I support Ron Paul. Here is why.
I think ddoubleez's last video post sums up much of what I've experienced and seen in our political system. Drugs? Get the black folks. Death penalty? Get the poor folks with a public defender. Now there's a white guy (and a Republican!!) wanting to do away with much of the current establishment?? No wonder he will not be elected.....
I'm waiting for someone to say, "How can you say that"??

I am going to vote for him...but I don't think the powers that really run this county will let it happen.
