Hi people. Me and my girfriend (for 9 months now) are going on our first real holiday. She says she wants to go topless on the beach (something she has never done before), and i have no idea why, its something im not comfortable with. She doesn't tan (at all!), and ive tryed talking to her about it and she says she "just wants to". My question is, whats the general consensus when it comes to partners and toplessness? And does it sound like im being unreasonable?

I think that if it's something she wants to try then let her go for it. You never know...once you open up to trying something new it might become something you love. I know that I get excited when I know there are a lot of guys drooling over my girl, yet I'm the one that gets to take her home.
It comes down to trust. If you can't trust her to sit topless then there is little hope for you two. What does she do when you're at work etc? Relax, enjoy the vacation and see where things go. You never know, she might get grosses out and never do it again. Or you might both get something out of it.

Let her. It might be her telling you that having others watch is a turn on. If so, get out the video recorder and tape you having a fun night! If it's just to get other guys attention, so be it, but don't assume that is the case ahead of time. Hell, if you have the balls, tell her you're going bottomless and see what she says!

I would personally have no problem with it. You see mate here in Aussie when it comes to summer time and you go anywhere near water you see women walking around in just their bikinis.

The little piece of cloth thats covering her nipples shouldn't be the thing which gives you security or insecurity in your relationship.

I've never been to a topless beach; I can see your point about being uncomfortable. Maybe you should ask her why this change now? Possibly, it's just something she wants to get out of her system.

Could this cause problems for the two of you? Yes; however, I think the problems can be minimized with good, old fashioned communication. Ask her, talk with her.

Hey thanks for the replies, and no, i dont think it will cause any real problems, by the sounds of it, im making mountains of molehills. And i did ask her why she wants to do it so much, the only reason she says is she wants to, so it must just be the system thing, lol. So im gonna go ahead and let her, im not the kinda guy to stop her doing what she wants.
I guess my initial response was kind of old fasioned, its just ive never really been in a situation before when my girlfriend wants to be exposed in public, but hell, ill get over myself, hehe.

Let her go for it. That's awesome that she has enough confidence to do that. I am assuming you are vacationing just the two of you? If so, you are never going to see any of those people again, and she is with you. I bet it will spice things up

we all have things in our lives that we would like to do "just once before we die" . down the road , you might find yourself in those same shoes .

hey , are you going to be on the beach with her ? if so , then you are going to probably see at least one other guy that was in the same quandry .
besides ... there are going to be all those other women topless ... how is your girlfriend with that idea ? i would bet she has thought of that already ... so it makes the whole deal a two way road of trust .

ps ... some pictures of your vacation (in the digital photography section) would be cool ... as would some pix of those "other women" posted in the "girl pix" section !

Butter, I never thought about the idea of their being additional chicks w/o tops on present during your vacation. Could it be a problem of you taking pictures of them in a public palce? I don't know, I ain't even close to understanding US law, much less Irish stuff. Take 'em. Post 'em. We'll deal with the outcome later...............

she wants you to trust her, so tell her what's bugging you. but i've no problem with that, coz i like women to do crazy things once in a while. im sure, she'll think about it twice when you get there. imagining something is one thing, doing what you're imagining is another thing.

I think it's a trust game too. let her do it. Then if she actually does and all of the guys on the beach can't stop staring, smile and realize tat they're staring at YOUR woman. Something they can't have.
