Who will vote for Ron Paul?
To me, as an outsider (I'm Canadian) Ron Paul seems to be the most sensible candidate on either side. Hillary Clinton just blows with the wind, and Barrack Obama, while he is a nice enough guy, I don't think he seems like the type to win an election. Paul, to me anyway, appears to be one of the few if not the only man running for president who is willing to speak what the majority of educated people feel, and get to the heart of the issues without getting bogged down in petty party rules and politicking.
I'm really hopeful he wins the Republican nomination because in my opinion, he would do the most good for the world, as well as America, by simply keeping America OUT of where it doesn't need to be.
What's your take on this man, his chances, and would YOU vote for him over Rudy, Romney, and whichever other neo-Con hack the Republicans throw out there?

Re: Who will vote for Ron Paul?
I would vote for him in a heartbeat. He's the only TRUE republican in the running, and the only one that doesn't care about party lines and making the republican base happy. He cares about the classic America, and is a classic republican, and we need more of them around.

Re: Who will vote for Ron Paul?
Why exactly doesn't he have a chance? John McCain is pretty much insane now, Rudy is riding his "I was mayor during 9/11" bandwagon as far as it'll take him, for God's sake, the guy leading the polls is Mormon, a group that up until 40ish years ago was RECOGNIZED AS A HATE GROUP! I'm more left-leaning than right, but I'd vote for Paul (if I could) in a heartbeat as opposed to Hillary, or Obama (Gore should so throw his hat in; he'd win the nomination walking away. Ron Paul vs Al Gore, what a race that would be. Imagine, they'd probably be discussing the ISSUES instead of boys kissing). I think it'd be the best chance the Republicans have of winning away voters from the Democrats, because people know what Paul stands for, and he's actually thinking about ways to solve issues, as opposed to the other Rep. candidates simply spouting "they hate us for our freedom". I would imagine that if Ron Paul ran against Hillary Clinton or Barrack Obama, there'd be plenty of Democrats coming over to his side because he seems to be the only person in this race who has his head screwed on straight.

Re: Who will vote for Ron Paul?
Well until this tread I never heard of him and after research him I can see why. A doctor specialising in obstetrics/gynecology was a congressman in the late 70's ~ early 80's. Left office in 1984. Ran for President as a Libertarian Party canidate and got only 432,000 votes. He returned to congress in 1997 as a Republican. He's known as 'Dr No' because he basically votes no on almost everything. He even voted agaist a commerative medal to presented to the Pope. The Libertarians and hoping to have if his run for the Republican Precidential canadicy fails and he's also put in to run for Texas congressman again in 2008. He notes what he's voted against but says nothing of what he's voted for.He states he introduces numerous pieces of legislation but does note anything that passed. (I guess he voted No!)
I really doubt if he'll make it thru the primary election.

Re: Who will vote for Ron Paul?
I'm with you Lic. Ron does not have the exposure or following to be a viable candidate, IMO. While he makes for an interesting choice, you have to think if casting a vote for him as the Rep candidate is in essence, "throwing your vote" away. I've never liked that phrase or thinking but I understand what people mean in the big picture.

Re: Who will vote for Ron Paul?
I'm Ron Paul all the way and I personally think he has a chance. His popularity after the 1st Republican debates has been very high and online he has more of a following probably than just about any other candidate, period. You have to watch vids on him and listen to the guy and give him a chance before ruling him out. He's the only candidate who is really willing to address the serious issues. Most are for Satus Quo which just isn't good enough considering the things that are happening around us right now.
BTW, Angelus, you're not the only "outsider" that finds Ron Paul and/or Mike Gravel to be good candidates. I think it's interesting that so many foreigners are interested in the US Presidential Elections when, honestly, 99.99% of Americans are completely oblivious to any outside countries' government elects. I guess it's because America has more impact on other nations.
Point is, I've seen a real trend where foreigners say Paul is the guy. I know he's the man, but apparently Foreigners agree that he's better suited to put America back into a respectable position within the eyes of the rest of The World. I agree totally.
Below is a site with some videos of Ron Paul - good stuff...

Re: Who will vote for Ron Paul?
He is more traditional and therefore more republician than we have seen in a long time. The past half decades have turned me off of republican canidates... He could almost change my mind... Unfortunately he is big on priviatization which is bad news........

Re: Who will vote for Ron Paul?
I'd like to vote for Ron Paul, but he is not going to get the party nomination and both parties have the public convinced that there is only room for two **real** parties. That being said, assuming Romney gets the nod, I'll be voting for him. If Paul somehow managed to get the nod, in a heartbeat.

Re: Who will vote for Ron Paul?
On economic matters, Paul isn't bad, he adheres to pretty strict libertarian values. But his foreign policy is so isolationist it's hard to take him seriously.
