Network Printer Toubles
I have a laptop running Windows Vista Ultimate and a desktop running WIndows XP. Im trying to hook up my laptop to print off of the printer attached to the desktop via the Linksys router that both the desktop and laptop use. I am able to find the printer and made sure to click share and everything. However, when i try to connect to it in Vista, it says access is denied and I cannott connect. I dont know what else to try since I am kinda new at the network thing. Any help would really be apprecciated.

Re: Network Printer Toubles
if it is saying access denied, it sounds like you didn't give yourself admin rights over the printer. I'm kinda new at this network stuff too.

Re: Network Printer Toubles
Ok after looking around and trying stuff out I finally noticed that the printer sharing was password protected somehow? i never assigned a password on either computer and it doesnt have an option for me to put a password in anywhere so I am really confused. I tried logging in as administrator but that didnt work very well in vista.

Re: Network Printer Toubles
i haven't tried vista yet, but try logging for both as adminstrator, then share the printer over the network. once your laptop finds your printer, it will ask for drivers, install it. i think this will go on smoothly...
