Attn: People in relationships!
I guess Im still a rookie in dating/relatioships even though Im in my 3rd serious relationship. I was wondering how often should you hang out/see your boyfriend or girlfriend?
Im getting the feeling that I spend too much time with my girlfriend and smother her. Im always asking her to hang out. I don't give her enough time for herself or her sister who she is very close to. We've been dating for a 3 months and I don't want this to end. She was pretty quiet last night so we talked on the phone when she got home last night and decided to cut down hanging out with each other during the week because we both work full time. Shes been tired lately too. I sensed something was wrong so I tried to understand her. Right now we spend 4 days a week together (all afternoon/night after work and all day/night during the weekends). So how much is TOO much? Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks. |

Well, I've always been a big believer in people retaining their indivuality, especially when involved in a relationship. And there's that old saying- absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Right now my girl and I are deeply in love, but we don't hang out all the time. I see her maybe 3 or 4 nights a week. Partly because we have opposite schedules work-wise, but we both believe and have said to one another that this is how we like it. And I always look forward to seeing her and miss her when we're not together. But I consider this to be a good thing. Much, much better than the alternative. My advice is to make an effort to give yourself some time away from her and hang out with friends. No woman likes to be smothered and I think she'd appreciate it if you gave her some space. It may not be easy but things that pay off rarely are. Hope this helps. |
