Don't pump gas on May 15th!
BUY NO GAS...On May 15th 2007
Back in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in
protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon
overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in
protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most
places.
There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet
network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companys
pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one
day.
If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) resend this to all your
contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

Re: Don't pump gas on May 15th!
I typically would tell anyone to protest anything you feel is wrong, but it would be better served if the movement would change their aim. If you skip buying gas for a day you have to purchace the same amount of gas the in the next few days, and the sales would return to the bottom line of the oil companies. If you carpooled or took public transportation, then it would accually take revinue off the bottom line, but this protest was designed for those who don't really want to sacrifice. If you want to impact them take the bus, or even just take the day off. I run my car on veggie oil after a restuarant is done with it and have only bought gas a few times after April 2004, I have taken over 4k off their bottom line.
Again, if you want to hurt them, get a fuel effecient car, or take public transportation on may 15th, I support the reasoning, it just needs to be more effective.

Not to sound mean or anything, but this has already been discussed, and the majority of the people here at WR tend to not like these kind of "chain" threads.

You may also wish to not use plastics, fertilized foods, i.e. don't eat ANYTHING, use any personal hygiene product, any electricity from natural gas, read books - inks you know - look at Webrats pr0n on your computer, wear clothes, listen to you iPod, etc. etc.
I think you see where this is going; all products of the petroleum industry. Gasoline is an itsy, bitsy, tiny portion comparibly.
Once again, people can't see the forrest from the trees in an effort to hide from the REAL problems.

There is an argument to everything; don't assume that since you believe in something, that everybody else does. Reading these posts, most people actually disagree for good reasons. I side with the majority in this case.

Re: Don't pump gas on May 15th!
I'll be sure to tell my boss I can't go out and do my job on May 15th because Im not supposed to pump any gas.
By the way, when I get fired, you got $20 I can borrow, since I would be out of a job and all if I did that...

The world is falling apart just face it. Even if we went to green energy and didnt use any type of petro we would still be having trouble.

Re: Don't pump gas on May 15th!
i probably wont pump any gas on the 15th, just because i only pump gas like twice a week. i see above its just hoax, but i think when bush leaves office gas will go over $4.00 a gallon. just my theory.

Because we have seen the largest energy spikes ever under this guy. In 2000 we were paying 1.25 for premium, and 25 dollar a barrel on crude. If oil companies were paying taxes we may have seen some positive work being done on the debt, who has the worst dept and energy record? Take a guess. But go on with your theory....

Re: Don't pump gas on May 15th!
the problem with this is that if nobody pumps gas for a day but still drives then they need that gas the next day, giving the oil companys all their money back. it would be better to try and get everyone on the net to take the bus or ride a bike for a day, or hell they could walk for all I care. A one day no pump isn't going to help anything.

Re: Don't pump gas on May 15th!
Man oh man.. it'll never work... Unless you stop driving all together..
But one thing that might get attention is if everyone boycotted a certain gas company..
Like Mobil, And Exxon. Seeing as they are foreign owned. I never buy Mobil. it's always more expensive anyway.
