*.Bin files are a hassle

click on one of our sponsors! OR REMOVE ADS
Alright so I dloaded this home design program (via torrent). When it finally finsihed, it dloaded 3 huges *.bin files and 3 *.cue files. Now my question is, do I need additional files for the *.bin files to operate properly, such as Autorun.exe or setup.exe?

I googled, and it says to extract or to burn an image to a cd for it to work, but I've tried plenty of times and in resulting failure. I have no experience in working with *.bin files..

I am using MagicISO, and I have no serial for it..therefore it can't burn the image onto a cd because it is more than 300mbs.

Anyone help me out??

If you need a detailed story, lmk.

I already assumed that this isn't going to work w/o some sort of a autorun file..

Thanks in advance to those who help..

Re: *.Bin files are a hassle

easiest thing, is to use nero and choose the "burn saved image to disk" or "burn image to disk" option and then that should sort you out if you need more of an explanation and noone else sorts it, ill do a guide or something

Re: *.Bin files are a hassle

I made a disc, with all the 6 files on them.

Now when I put the CD in, it just shows the files..it doesn't run setup or anything for that matter.

each bin/cue file set is an image for an individual disc, you can't just copy them all onto one disc & have it work.

Re: *.Bin files are a hassle

Okay so do you suggest that I copy the 3 *.bin files on seperate CDs?

I wanted to use DVD-Rs because thats the only thing I have, but if you were to burn the image onto a CD-RW, upload the data in a folder, and then repeat the process 2 more times so then I can burn it on a DVD-R, would that work?

Re: *.Bin files are a hassle

no dude, the bin/cue set IS the image - you don't want to copy it onto the CD, it IS the CD.

If you use something like Nero as Smonty suggested, you will select "Burn Image" and you will browse to the directory your bin/cues are in (the bin & cue file(s) should be in the same directory).

Just select the cue file (or I think you could actually select the bin file alone in Nero) and burn it. Do not copy the bin/cue to disc & burn - the bin/cue IS the image.

And if the images are for CDRs, just burn CDRs - to explain how to put it all on one DVDR would really be more effort than its worth - CD's are like fifteen cents a piece at his point, just burn away.

Re: *.Bin files are a hassle

Or you can emulate them

But just stick to burning all the *.bin files onto seperate CD's for now
