One is methadone maintance which is a long term treatment, usually no effort to detox. With maintance the stress is on leading a producitve life with out the drug-street life style( harm reduction). The other track is detox, which in essence is you are put on a dose of methadone to prevent sickness and than slowly reduce the dose intill you get off of methadone. Clinics usually will offer a sliding scale fee for people who work and dont have insurance coverage.
