I believe if you take all the countries involved in a military conflict today, put them on a map, look at all the different connectivity, you have to say to yourself: this is, in fact, World War III.

Maybe, but some of the world's superpowers have little to no involvement. ie Japan, China, Germany, etc...

I think until more response is taken from those countries, we just have to call this a shitty situation. Hopefully, something can be done to restore some sense of order soon.

I think it will end up in WW3 but it won't happen until at least Europe recognizes the enemy. I know it's always taboo to bring it up but I don't see a lot of difference between hezbollah/hamas/iran and the third reich. Both groups want to kill jews. And currently, Europe is trying to appease the terrorist groups just like they let the Germans walk all over Europe before they realized what was going on.

World War III is stretching it a bit. Mostly because there isn't such a clear distinction between good and evil this time around. There are a lot of countries with a "meh" attitude. They feel the "Allied" powers this time around (Israel, the US, Britain) are the good guys but they just can't stop screwing things up. There is sympathy for the other guys because the "good guys" are pretty useless when it comes to solving any problems. There is way too much apathy right now to call it a World War. It's really just a war between Hezbollah, part of Iraq, Syria, and Iran vs. the US, Britain and Israel. Syria and Iran haven't even joined the fighting yet, they just happen to be supporting the "bad guys". China and Russia don't approve of what the U.S. is doing but then again, they don't care enough to fight against us. Without those 2 countries in the picture there is no World War in my opinion.

war yes... but worldwar? in a world war the whole world suffers crisis... ressources run out and stuff...

dont worry... the conflicts on earth are well kept under control because of the fact that most wars rely on money causes.

the war in israel is hardcore BUT it was just a matter of time... no country allows other people to shoot its territory with missiles... but still... its not a world war... imagine atomic bombs falling on all the major cities in western and eastern european countries... that armageddon from hell would then be... the 3rd world war...

what we have right now (and 4 some time... i dont speak of 34 years... 20 years at least) we have a world controlled war in different countries of the world.

I can see your logic by looking at the land area, also liked the comment about china becoming involved. If china joins I think we have a full blown WWIII.

Nah... I don't think it is yet because it isn't a World War until France surrenders. That, and a true war is fought between two or more uniformed groups of soldiers. What we have is more of a worldwide set of guerilla warfare... or something like that.

We have factions fighting each other. I believe that this has the potential to erupt into a world war yes. You see the arab nations are currently under attack from multiple fronts and if they unify then yes we will have a muslim vs the rest war.

I agree that while this isn't currently a world war, it has the potential to escalate into WW3. NATO etc. must pull their finger out and stop trying to push small conflicts under the rug. Palestine vs Israel is not a small war as it has the potential to rip whole middle east into a large war.

That being said I believe the diplomatic methods to solve Israel vs Palestine are well and truely exhausted. Its time the palestines smite or were smited.

I don't understand why Hezbollah vs. Israel suddenly propelled us into WW3. No one was saying "WW3" before this, and now that a tiny Jewish country is fighting a faction inside a tiny country, that is what tipped the scales? I do think panic has set in for most people.

WWI was started by a duke being shot. Things like this set off alliances. Iran and Syria fund hezbollah and we got Israel's back. England has our back.

I think as soon as the currently appeasing countries figure out what is going on and how threatened they are they will become more involved also. That's not even to bring in the non-western world such as N. Korea, Russia, and Australia.

That is why people are talking about WWIII.

I've heard arguments from scholars who say this would be WW IV because the Cold War could be considered WW III, and that these World Wars would not resemble the first two, i.e. terrorists groups and non-hot wars. If the fighting spreads outside the Middle East, it would be easy to coin this a World War.

On a side note, WW I and WW II, were given those names until after or late in the conflict (Truman coined WW II two weeks before the Nazi surrender).
