flag burning?
what is your toughts about it?
In my personal opinion I think is just completly wrong, people should be incarcerated for that; if they do not agree with either party on power rant about them, but the flag is sacred... what is the benefit for a person to burn a flag? none
I think first ammendement should not cover flag burning... what do you think?

Re: flag burning?
THE STARS AND STRIPES
I rode into an old Cow town courthouse square,
And I saw an old cowboy sitting on a bench over there.
So I rode up, and I said, “you know, your old courthouse
Is awful run-down.”
He just smile and said, “Son, it’ll do for our little town.”
So I said, “But your flagpole is leaning quite a bit,
And that ‘s a ragged old flag you’ve got a-hangin’ on it.”
He siad, “Son, climb down off your horse and take a seat,” And so I did, and I sat down.
And he said, “Son is this the first time you”ve been to our little town?”
“Well,’ I said, “Yes,” sir, it is.” “Well, we”re kinda proud of that ragged old flag. You see its got a hole right there, where Washington carried it across the Delaware.
Got powder burns when Francis Scott key sat a-watching it and writing, ‘Oh, say , can you see?’ And that tear right there, that’s from the Battle of New Orleans, with Packingham and Jackson a-tuggin at her seams.
She nearly fell at the Alamo but she kept right on a-wavin’, you know. She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville, and she got cut again at Shilo’s Hill. And there was Robert E.Lee and Beauregard and Bragg. And the south wind blew hard on that ragged old flag
In Flanders’ field in World War One, She got a bit hole from a Bertha gun. Turned blood red in world war two and hung limp and low a time or two.
“She’s been to Korea and Vietnam. She goes where she’s sent by her Uncle Sam. She waves over our ships on the briny foam, but they’ve kid of stopped waving her here at home.
Here in our own good land, she’s been burned and abused, criticized and refused, and the government for which she stands has been scandalized all across the land.
“Ah, she’s threadbare and a-wearin’ thin, but she’s in good shape for the shape she ‘s in. So we bring her up every morning and we bring her down every night. We never let her touch the ground, and we fold her up just right.
“Well, I guess on second thought I do like to brag ‘cause I’m mighty proud of the ragged old flag.”
Author unknown
As far as people burning the flag I think they are pretty stupid. Dont they understand that what the flag represents is what gives them the freedom to just that. Kinda seems like they are burning there own freedoms along with the flag. We should be proud of what the flag stands for and the history behind it. People should make there point some other way rather than desecrating our nations heritage.

Re: flag burning?
Those people that burnt American and British flags while they protested over the war should all be banned for life from entering America and Britian, if they don't like our countrys then they aren't welcome...simple as that.

Re: flag burning?
I love our flag not because it is an icon of our country but for what it represents, a country devoted to the freedom of mankind. I would never disrespect it in any form no less do something as outrageous as to setting it on fire. If someone else should feel so inclined to burn it I would say go right ahead. You see, burning it would not only display their discontent, it would also reveal their ignorance.

Re: flag burning?
I think incarciration would be a light punishment. People that burn the flag that represents this country that so many people have died over to protect and preserve should be tortured to within an inch of there life.

Re: flag burning?
I'm a firm believer of freedom of speech/expression. With that, I believe that the flag, much in the same manner as our national bird, should be protected from such behaviour. While I don't think they should be tortured and banned from our country, I do think there should be a penalty that discourages others from the same behaviour.

Re: flag burning?
The only people that need to be burning flags are the Navy/Army/Marines/Air Force in ceremonies where the flag is just to tattered to keep. Everyone else should just not even think about it. if i saw it, id beat ass.

Re: flag burning?
Maybe people should stop worrying about flags being burned and start thinking about why they're being burned.

truth there, but maybe not how you meant it, people only burn the flag for shock value to americans, to show how much they dont give a fuck or how much they hate us, and by all means people go ahead and burn it cause i don't care, you just went out payed money for different colored clothes and burnt it, might as well just went out and took some money and lit that shit up too, i have no cares if someone burns the flag cause it is just a flag, it is our country that makes that flag so much of an icon, it is everything that makes america america, you aren't going to weaken this country by burning a representation of it like you think you are going to

Re: flag burning?
Flag burning should stay legal for freedom of expression. Our country doesn't require your expression to be valid or correct or logical. Besides, anyone who burns the flag shows their ignorance in throwing out ALL we stand for because of their one pet peeve. Flag burners lose far more converts than they win by that action.

I'm not sure they're looking for converts ... rather, they seem more concerned about drawing attention to what ever the cause du jour is.

Re: flag burning?
I think flag burning is definately wrong, its always shown as a symbol for pure hatred towards a country and all that it stands for

Re: flag burning?
i say if some son-of-a-bitch burns a flag anyone who sees it or hears about it within an hour should have free reign to beat the asshole down. i mean hundreds of thousands of great men died and still do die for that flag and it should be treated with some god dammed respect

Re: flag burning?
I can guarantee you that in the next few days a lot of American flags will be burned in Ireland. Bush is going there and already it's making the news and people talking about they don't want him going there and shit.
Hey Bush, your welcome to come to my house for a Miller and some KFC
 <---Bush going to Ireland
:happycow: <---- Bush coming to my house
