If you might like challenging Fantasy
The name has been mentioned briefly in a few threads, but I strongly recommend Terry Goodkind's series "The Sword of Truth". The nature of the setting is similar to Jordan's series "The Wheel of Time", but I consider it better written.
Goodkind weaves a lot of discussion into his stories on pertenant topics today such as the necessity of fighting to defend our rights and freedoms, the near-paradox of force being required to insure peace by killing those who have sworn to kill us. He also gives stong examples within his stories of the flaws and evils inherent in socialism, relative morality, and the weaknesses of modern liberal thought (as opposed to the classical liberalism).

Re: If you might like challenging Fantasy
I have read every single one, and had the entire series at one point. I STRONGLY reccommend this series.

Re: If you might like challenging Fantasy
They're definitely good, but the later ones become a bit formulaic.
I just bought the first 4 again though, I'm planning to read 'em all again.

Re: If you might like challenging Fantasy
Try the Prince of the Nothing series by R Scott Bakker. Very challenging. The 1st 100 hundred pages of the 1st book can be tough to get though, but it is worth it.

Re: If you might like challenging Fantasy
The Honor Harrington series by David Weber:
On Basilisk Station
The Honor of the Queen
The Short Victorious War
Field of Dishonor
Flag in Exile
Honor among Enemies
In enemy Hands
Echos of Honor
Ashes of Victory
War of Honor
At All Costs
And I just finished a new one by him called "In Fury Born". Not a "Honor Harrington" book but it could be the start of a new series.
