I was on Colorado.gov (checking out if I wanna relocate) and they have a new link to "unclaimed property" so I clicked on it. It took me to missingmoney.com.

I had a grandpa pass away last year so I put his name in the search and it returned 3 hits. I knew he had one unclaimed real estate holding that was turned over to the state when he passed away so I thought the other 2 hits were weird.

So I plugged in my own name and holy shit... "I" have unclaimed property??? So I search on my ex who was awarded the only property I've ever owned and sure enough she's in there and the "ID" of that unclaimed land is the same.

Funny thing is, she fought for the house in the split and was awarded it and I had to sign-off but she eventually lost it to forclosure. I've driven past that house and it's been resold (years ago) so I'm pretty sure the state doesn't "hold" it.

But I'm wondering why might they have either of us listed with it as unclaimed land? I'm also wondering what would happen if I submitted and try to claim it?

What's your speculation? Think the state would turn the info to the bank and then the bank would try to squeeze the forclosure loot out of me?
Anybody ever dealt with a situation similar?
