Is there really a 3 day (or whatever # of days) rule thing for calling a girl/guy. I just got out of a very long relationship...5 1/2 years. We were together since high school so I have no clue how to act now.

i am in the same boat as you man... the same exact boat actually. 5 1/2 years here too, since high school. My first taste of the three day rule came with my ex after we had broken up. We decided to try and start dating again, she brought up the three day rule, so I followed it.

Turns out her three day rule was a bunch of bullshit cause when I did call her I got bitched at for not calling her that day and seeing if she was regretting anything (we had sex again hehe). SHE SAID THREE FREAKING DAYS... SO I WAITED THREE DAYS...

needless to say we aren't talking right now... hell i don't even know if we will be freinds after this. she can't/won't accept the reasons i have given for breaking up. *sighs*

so my take on the three day rule is this... its bullshit. If you really like someone... why the hell are you gonna wait three days? The only time the three day rule matters is when guys are with their guy friends, and girls are with their girl friends, and they are talking about dating. Everyone always says... oh yeah... i would wait three days... when in reality that is just to save face around their friends. They would call the next day if they thought it was ok. There is no point in waiting three days... thats just gay.

I fucking hate the idea of the 3 day rule. I feel fine calling a girl or talking to her the next day, just so long as it's not overbaring. I mean say, "hey, had a good time, hope to see you again soon." Just don't be like the guy from "Swingers" who calls a girl he meets that night, leaves her 25,213 messages, going through the full emotions of a relationship throughout them.

Wouldn't it make more of an impression if a guy calls you the next day than 3 days later trying to make it seem like it's no big deal? I mean unless you know a girl is gonna fall for playin hard to get, it's just retarded.

I just met this girl on Saturday and we talked just for a few minutes. She was working so it was hard to get time to talk. My friends sister works with her so that's how we met. I'll give her a call tomorrow. It just happens to be 3 days, but in the short time we talked I found out that she has free time on Tuesdays so that actually works out. I was just worried about what to say and how to act. It's been so long and high school was so much different. I'll shoot myself if I end up like Mikey in Swingers...calling and calling.

3 day rule applies to girls you meet at a club/bar IMHO. Anyone other than that (school, work, church, etc) you can call whenever, as long as its an appropriate time. For those with the exes for the 5.5 years, been there, still there. Sexing the ex always feel good, but you just gotta think to yourself, if it didnt work out in 5.5 years, it wont ever work out.

I sexed the ex last night and its been almost a year since the initial break up. It ALWAYS feels good with her, ALWAYS. But I know it might never work, so I try not to wrap my feelings in her again.

Girls are crazy, if I didn't love women and pussy so much I'm not sure if I could deal with most of them. I would just be asexual....lol

Anyway, I guess do the three day thing or dont, it doesn't really matter, the girl has a completely different mindset than you do anyway so just do what you want and to tell you the truth it wont affect her in either direction, she already knows if she's going to let you thrust against that *****.

Hope this makes sense, just woke up and stumbled in from getting a cut.

well, i already talked to her and it's all good. i just had to get over that initial one. it's been a long time since i've been in this position.

Personally i dont think it matters if its one day or three days. I usually call a girl i meet the next day, if they have a problem with it then they must have not been that interested to start with. Just recently i bumped into a girl i dated in highschool and we called each other the next day and went on about 3 dates in the first week of seeing each other again. If both people are interested, time is not an issue.

The 3 day rule is usually used by people not wanting to look too desperate, but in reality they are more desperate than anybody. I think you actually make yourself look more desperate using the 3 day rule because pretty much everyone is aware of it. Usually it makes someone feel good if they can leave an impression good enough for someone to want to call them the next day.
