I have been using this, along with other opiates for a while now. Some of my buddys think smoking it is more addictive than just popping it. Any ideas?

Hmmm, interesting question. The metabolization of morphine analogue opiates is faster and more agressive when smoked, however the effects are i think a bit shorter in duration. Think of it like pot. If you eat pot, it still has an affect, just a bit of a different one. The effects are longer and less intense, than if it was smoked. Different chemicals are metabolized at different rates within the body due to different modes of ingestion. Case in point, certain chemicals are digested (work) faster in acidic conditions, thus they are quickly metabolized in your stomach, however, others are better metabolized in basic conditions so they must go through your stomach to your intestines. This takes longer for the drug to "work." So, in answer to your question..... smoking the opiates probably gives and faster more intense "rush" but popping them would give a slower, longer hit. I would imagine, based on how complex the human addiction process is, that each person would have a different addiction response to each method of ingestion. Where you may like the quick strong rush of smoking them, I may like the slower, longer, more even hit of popping them. This would lead you to be more inclined to smoke, and I to pop. Either way, oxycontin is pretty damn addictive. So after all that bullshit, I doubt with a drug that strong, it really matters. Although, i did read a paper once about how much more addictive smoking crack cocaine is than snorting it, but that is a bit different.

thank you and it wasnt bullshit, it was good information. What about morphine i just tried smoking that today, and it tastes like shit didnt seem to get me high. Also i definantly agree about the effects, my friends smoke it, i tried it and it doesnt last long at all seems like a waste of money to me. Snorting it is almost just as good, and it lasts wayy longer.

Well, it depends on what kind of morphine that you got your hands on. If you had a liquid suspension, like that used in I.V. injections, or the freebase solid. My hands on experience with morphine adds up to only two. Once while I was in the damn hospital, and the other in the lab making it. In the hospital I was given in in an IV, thus it was liquid but I think you can still get it in small doses in pill form. Theoretically the mechanism would be the same as the others though. You see, all the opiates that you are talking about, morphine, codiene, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, oxymorphone, etc...etc... are all based on the carbon skeleton of morphine. They are (mostly) made from direct chemical reactions with morphine, and are all very simillar in shape and function to morphine. In fact, your body turns codiene to morphine by an enzyme action. So it stands to reason that all of the mechanisms of action, including the rate of metabolism would be at least very simillar. So if you smoked pure morphine the results should be the same as if you had smoked an equal potency of some other opiate. That said, all of the analogues react a little differently in your body, this is why hydrocodone "feels" a little different than oxycodone. But I think you get the point. Smoking morphine should also give you an opioide reaction. After all, the main chemical in opium is morphine, along with about 17 (if memory stands correct, {its late}) other closely related chemical, including codiene, and the main method of ingestion is through smoking. But the X factor is what kind of morphine did you have? It may be that the pills that you crushed and smoked were of a low potency, as I think morphine is rarely given by prescription, or any number of other reasons that the crushed pills didn't work. And if it was a liquid suspension, again, the concentration may have been too low. There are a lot of problems that come up in practical chemistry that deal with amounts, for the same reason that it may be much easyer to make a thousand grams of some chemical rather than a single gram, you smoking 10mg of morphine may just not be physicaly enough to ingest any amount in that manner. That sounds a bit confusing..... If you had 10mg of morphine in your hand you would have such a small amount that you couldn't really smoke it, but you could mix it with normal saline and inject it. I am trying to come up with a better analogy, but am just not getting it. Anyway, if you had pills, your best mode of action would be to suspend them in a liquid and inject them, and unless you had a rather large amount of pure morphine freebase, or opium, smoking it would probably be counterproductive. And since morphine (and the others) are broken down by your liver very quickly popping them tends to be a little less poweful. And if you do indeed have a large amount of morphine freebase, you have got to tell me how the hell you came across it!
In the end, the amount of the chemical that you have plays a very large role in the physical aspects of what you can do with it. I hope that helps a little.
Also, what is your favorite? I don't like hydrocodone at all, but i really like the oxy variety.

dude hands down i am addicted to oxycontin are you kidding? The 80s are god like, i just started getting my hands on fentanyl, thats like a step down from oxy it feels like. That is also pretty nice, but i prefer the timerelease oxycodones. Thanks again for all the info.

oh and by the way one of my friends moms is on Morphine for somthing i cant remember what but we've been getting the 15mg from that, and 30mg every once in a while. By the way how do you know so much about all this, is it just chemistry, or what?

Really.... Thats interesting. She must have some pretty chronic pain. Cancer??? Also, I can't come across oxycontin at all where im from. I know a little about this stuff because im one of those "pre" med idiots. I reallllllly hate to say that, as it seems that every freshman I talk to is premed. I have a bach' in chem and in biology, and a lot of coursework in biochem. I do some research for my college now and will apply to med school at the end of the summer. But most of it is just personal interest. When I was younger I was into the scene hardcore, but I have cut most of it out now, too damn busy. What about you?

I think its ms, or cancer i cant remember which. I'm just workin the same dead end job thinking of some college to do. This kind of stuff interests me. By the way they're stopping the contin drug abuse my friend already got some bad ones. The new ones just make you sick if you chop them up, or smoke them. Eh good thing theres alot more opoids to have fun wth.

Im not into oxycontin, too addictive/strong for my mild recreational tastes, but where the hell do you people come across pills so easily like this? Ive looked so hard before only to never find any, I just want to find some percocet or vicodin for cheap, and i never can!

This is nasty stuff. majorly addictive, expensive, and gives you the sweats and gut rot...do NOT smoke ciggies while on this stuff.
