Re: DirecTV Tech
how can i clear my reciever so that it reads one of my other cards i have??? I mean I stick one of my cards from my recievers into my other one... and it said "You have inserted the wrong card." I had lost my other card and dont want to bother to call DirecTV for a new one... Is there a way I can reset my reciever??? thanks!

Re: DirecTV Tech
Your card is married to your IRD. At the present time there is no way to clear your card.

Re: DirecTV Tech
not clear my card, but clear the reciever...

Re: DirecTV Tech
A DirecTv access card marries the first reciever that it is inserted in, therefor it will only work in that reciever. In order to get it to work in another reciever you will have to clear the IRD # that is written in the card memory...

Re: DirecTV Tech
aight got it. Thanks

Re: DirecTV Tech
sorry for my delay in responding....you have to call tech support and have the card "married" to the ird as bzg puts it...fairly simple once you actually get through to us...helpful hint...call late at night...12am-2am CST...

This isn't completely true. The access cards can be used on other receivers, like if your receiver dies and the service call tech (from d1rectv) replaces it with another, it can be switched to work with another receiver. Or if you get a CSR from D1recTV that knows what they are doing. But like GNX said call late at night! or early am (I used to work at 5:00 am and it was usually slow until about 8 am e.t.) |
Re: DirecTV Tech
sometimes later in the day after7 or 8 pm, I cant get some of the channels on one of my recievers. espn news and ifc are two of the common ones that don't come in at night. I get the message that there is no signal. when I go downstairs to another reciever, it comes in just fine. Then in the morning they both work just fine. any ideas?

Re: DirecTV Tech
There are three possible problems in any sat. system. the Dish and it's components, the wire leading from the dish to the box and the box to however you have it set up, and the box itself.
If you are getting a "seaching for signal" message on the screen this would tend to be a dish problem. Since you get the channels intermittantley it could be the box or the connections (wiring). Make sure your connections are secure. Hope this helps. |
Re: DirecTV Tech
i remember a friend had direccttv a couple years back wehn it first came out and he had a "hot" card that opened access to all channels. but he only used it intermittently so they would not find out. is this a thing of the past...like"black" boxes were before digital cable?
