Anybody out there a parent? I say watch your kids. I started using heroin at the age of 14, didn't even know what it was, but had to follow the gang. Stupidest thing I ever did. At 30 was still using one drug or another, with a few years off for jail sentences relating to drugs. It's a no win situation and alienates all who are close to you. I hope you-all are smarter than I was.

Im sure paretns are watching their kids, but its not that hard to hide shit from parents. My mom still doesnt know i smoke and im 22. Granted, my mom never did anything more controversial than dancing when she was a kid, but she thought me and my sister were little angels.

I don't know about you, but I found out a lot of things about my parents as I grew older. Neither of my parents were angels and neither of are stupid. My parents were aware and worried about my drug use, but chose to give me the benefit of the doubt as they thought I was a good kid with a good head on my shoulders. Turns out they were right. I took everything 'cept for H and it's all behind me now. Except for the once a year indugence that usually happens by accident. While you can't generalize about parents, they were also young once and probably know a lot more than you think they do.

Another thing is to watch out for prescription drugs that your children are being perscribed legaly; and illegal ways the medication can/could be abused for a "high." Just because a doctor writes out a script DOES NOT MEAN IT IS NOT ADDICTIVE OR DOES NOT HAVE A HIGH POTENTIONAL FOR ABUSE! Know what your kids take and take time to research so you have a better understanding of what chemical is entering their bodies.

How many dangerous drugs can even be perscribed to children?Besides diffrent add/adhd meds.

IMHO, any drug that alters brain chemicals are bad for children. Their brain is still developing and artificially increasing neurotransmitters may hinder the growth of the normal mechanism to produce them. Consequently, the child might be dependant on the drug forever.

The life of a child is much simpler than us adults. They don't have to worry about many things and generally can be please more easily. If your child is sad, please spend more time with him/her and emotionally support the kid instead of feeding some pills.
