I am feeling like kicking myself

Here I am in a small German town where nothing is open on a Sunday afternoon, for lunch I only thing I could thing of eating in the hotel's restaurant was some veggie stuff which turned out to be boiled Asparagus with a bunch of boiled potatoes and a yellow runny sauce (they charged me some 15 Euros for that crap). I was so shocked to see boiled potatoes with their skin intact on a food table that I even clicked a picture to show my wife back home :)

At least the hotel had internet access to sell (Again at 17 Euros a day, by no means cheap)....and as if things were not bad enough, I now realize that while I did bring the European power cable for my laptop, the power adapter that connects to laptop is happily sitting at home, mated to the Indian power cable :duh: So now I have a full day of paid access and couple of hrs of power in my laptop.

Now comes the kicker, last night at Bangalore airport Lufthansa had overbooked the flight and was offering any passenger who wanted to stay back one day, fully paid hotel stay with all meals and 600 Euros in cash !!! I should have taken it considering arriving here alone at Sunday was a totally fucked up idea. I actually chickened out when I met my big boss at office in the same check-in queue !!!

Damn, those 600 Euros (nearly 1000 USD) would have been really really useful.

Welcome to the wonderful world of travel :bday:

It's funny when people who don't travel for work envy those of us that do. It seems that their limited amount of travel is relegated to vacation, therefore they assume that since we get on planes, stay in hotels and rent cars that we are on a relaxing party mission

Um... no.

I usually tell people that the first year and a half of a job with heavy travel is fun. After that, it turns into... well... a job. A lot of times, a pain in the ass job when you factor in all the dickholes that you have to deal with who don't travel all the time. Ie; airports, lobbies, mass transit :usuck:

I hear you on the foreign travel DD. When I was in France, I couldn't find shit to eat. I lived mostly on Pizza Marguerite (the only consistent thing I could find that I could stomach).

England with the fish and chips was bomb however! :yamon:

yep business travel sucks.

When I went to Germany a few years back it was airport-hotel, hotel-office-hotel X5, and finally hotel-airport.

Orlando a month ago - everything was in hotel (room, conference center, restaurants) so did not leave hotel. Same story in Seattle a couple weeks ago.

Super fun time? :usuck: No, it is just work in a different location.

Hey DDGuy hope you can get another power adapter for your laptop while you're out there, tough to get any work done with only two hours of power to spare.

Actually, I found a place that sold adapters in Stutgart.

Ask at the lobby.

U got it dead right Yamon and BDJ.
joe, with all due respect to yr Germany, i never understand why do they shut all shops here on a Sunday. All I needed was any of the big stores around the hotel to be open and i would have taken care Of myself..
Hopefully will find a spare adapter in office in couple of hrs from now
at least my E61 lets me post here
