....but mine did....most developed cities got their airports ages ago and chances are most people here just take it for granted. Bangalore got its new Airport a month ago and its my first time here tonight as I fly out to Germany. It's built by a Swiss-German contractor and boy am I impressed !!!

Not that it takes much to impress us Bangaloreans as far as Airports are concerned. The old airport was designed more like a bulging-at-its-seams bus stand but this one is finally an international class Airport. I am sitting here inside using Free Wi-Fi and I could close my eyes and I might as well be at Frankfurt. (Even there I don't get free Wi-Fi...;-) .

Its located way outside the city and this is causing a lot of heartburn to people. The govt in a true Indian style slept on connectivity for years and now that we have the new swanky airport, the roads are still being given final touches and the hi-speed train link is just about beginning to be talked about :duh:. I am fine though, took me just an hr of a taxi drive out in the wilderness, cost a bomb though, which sure enough is not my problem :-)

So did anyone here remember getting a new airport in their city (Licu and MJ don't count !!!)

They've been trying to convert El Toro Air Base into a commercial airport for a couple decades now.

Not getting a new airport anytime soon since the current one is working just fine (being beefed up a bit, though, for the 2010 winter olympics). Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is actually in Richmond which is the suburb where live in. So, like Yamon, 10-15 minute drive to the airport for me!! :)

At least your new airport is working relatively well, DD. You guys heard about the new Heathrow airport being a complete fucking disaster on their first day of actual service, right? What a joke, haha.

Yeah, I missed Lindbergh when he landed at the Philly airport in '27. Back in the '50s going down to the airport and watching the planes land from the back road near the runway was a night out. It was something to see a Locheed Constellation touch down. Besides, when your under 10 you're easily amused and we'd stop for soft serve ice cream cones on the way home.

It is a nice Airport, way the fuck outside of Denver, and there where no homes there. No light rail either (DOH!)

Bruce Willis made Die Hard 2 at DIA before it was completed.

And now, people that have bought homes built in the area are complaining about the noise. Tards!!! The Airport was there first!!!!

And you're ALWAYS gonna have stupid fucking people. Just like the dipshits that get coffee at McDonalds, and then when they spill it in their lap because they had their cell phone to one ear, and the head in the ass, they want to sue McDonalds for giving them hot coffee. DDGUY: glad to see the improvement for your area. Sometimes,it's hard for me to believe your country has the census it does without the infrastructure most think must be there to support the numbers! Recently, my local airport replaced the entire infrastructure created during the 1950's; it's amazing to see the expanded number of gates, easier access, and even the TSA have a great place to body cavity search you!! Oh yeah, I even get free wi-fi!!

The only thing worse than "stupid fucking people" are the ignorant. However, I'm feeling like a pompous jerk right now and as such I shall enlighten you.

1. The McDonalds coffee was well above the temperature of normally served coffee
2. The McDonalds that was serving the coffee had received numerous complaints before this particular lawsuit about their coffee being too hot
3. The woman in the case receive 3rd degree burns from said coffee

So please, before you disseminate "common knowledge of stupid people" check it.

So how much did your mother get for the settlement :) you defend her like it's someone you know. Last weekend i flew from LAX and must say it is a great airport, everything went smooth very clean and bright environment. Unfortunately we landed at JFK, man what a dump. I was expecting a half way decent airport for the size of it, it has all of the old 70's style flooring and carpets and old rickity ass walls. I was dissapointed to say the least, then to make things worse we had to spend some more time there because our plane was delayed for FIVE HOURS :usuck: traveled through 2 smaller airports in Newark New Jersay and Burlington Vermont and they both were higher class than JFK, but that is just IMO
