So... I sold a car today

The minivan belonged to my soon to be ex-wife. Yeah, the "official" end this relationship from hell court date is July 15th. (Work with me here, I'll give the screwed up details in another thread) It took quite awhile to move the vehicle. It's a good minivan: 4 doors, captains chairs, etc. It gets good mileage, about 24 around town and 30 on the road (doing 80 mph).

I was surprised the car sat for sale for so long. Economy? Folks thinking they should wait and see before making a purchase? I sold the car for loan value; this was less than owed, but check out another thread I'll have about that!

Anyone else selling vehicles and noticing longer than you thought advertising times?? Selling for less than you thought the vehicle would go for??

joerockhead: tell 'em the car isn't a hybrid or flex fuel; however, the buyer will still get the same "cool factor" those with the real deal have!!

The reason I started this was in amazement as to how long the car was on the market before selling. The car was well optioned, with low mileage, and priced below loan value. With gas prices what they are, I was thinking people are being a little more picky about what they are buying.

If folks are this way with gasoline powered vehicles, I wonder if diesel owners are having a similar time? Diesel prices have skyrocketed in the last few months. Is it worse for someone trying to sell a used, diesel powered pickup??

Yup, people are all freaked out now.
Wait till winter, when they cannot get out of their Driveways in the "Smart" cars.

YaMon: It has the money signs on the fenders; I think Juan would drive it. Do you know if there is a cage in the back for his iguana??

fmb: Thanks again for the great deal on this minivan.
I am still amazed at the amount of paperwork that was required to clear the vehicle. I've been removing the little tags marked 'evidence' as I find them.
Taking a closer look at the carpet in the way back I have to agree with you it should clean up nicely. All things considered it really is a nice score. Hope everything works out for you and they find your ex.

Re: So... I sold a car today

waldo: your excursion diesel or gasoline? either way, the fuel costs must be tremendous.

Anyone notice if used vehicle prices are getting lower? How about on used car lots?

I've noticed more folks carpooling on the local roadways.

i wish i could afford a big truck like that. gas prices are crazy now, no way i could. whats the mpg on it? how big is the tank?

Re: So... I sold a car today

cubiche: my guess is his mpg is around 8 if it's a gasoline engine and 11 if it's a diesel. I'm like you, I shiver at the thought of pulling up at a fuel station in that bastard!!

elfoozo: if you can't get the stains out of the carpet, let me know; I have a cool stanley steamer carpet cleaner that can make the job mucho easier. I'll fedex the thing to ya... I'll get the shovel and GPS unit back to ya next time I see ya!
