weird man - I can't get it open with any of my tools & I'm usually pretty good at this kind of thing. I'd say that the file is corrupted or not a video file at all :dunno:

hmmm ...

i dl'ed the file and took a look at it with a file analyzer (after close scrutiny with a couple of "anti" programs  ) . the hex dump shows nothing for headers associated with video files .

i noticed "ts" in the file name ... i have seen this associated with dvd/converted type files . it is posible that the file you uploaded is part of the "housekeeping" set ... not one of the actual video files/folder/chapter .

could you ul the whole of what you have ?

Next time try this. If it has Avi....it might not be one. You'll need to run a program to see the end of the file extension,....the very end, but change it to a wmv. or mpg or mpeg. Sometimes a video is mis-named & no player will open a file that the extension does'nt match the video's real format.(some exceptions) Remember that a divx is just a type of Avi....& asf is the same as wmv. It does'nt hurt to try!!!! Just about all compressed DVD movies you'll see on the intraweb are a DivX avi. :yamon:

the "divx" stuff is not avi ... it is an mp4 codec . divx is not a "special" type of mp4 as well .

juuuust a little clarification .

Well, that's not what the folks at DivX says. Besides, I rename almost all of my DivX video's to a avi once they're created. Been do'in this shit for many years!!!!! Some don't no what a DivX is....so I rename it since Windows Media Player 9 comes with the codec to play. IF I rename it to anything other than an Avi it will not play!!! Here's a screen cap from DivX's own manual!!!!

Re: Little help with video plzzzz.

No, CWB is correct. Sorry, but Divx is not a generic term for AVI, even if you may have thought so for years, and even if the Divx developers tell you it's so.

AVI is a container for video and audio; Divx is one of the codecs that compresses video and audio and it delivers them in the AVI container. Xvid is another, Indeo is still another.

Look at it this way - "Divx" is to "AVI" as "Ford" is to "vehicle": not all AVI files are Divx, but all Divx files are AVIs.

Read CWB's link for a better understanding of the topic, it is very informative.

whenever I get a video file I have problems playing I use a media player called VLC. It almost never fails to work.

Also I believe that ts files are what you get when ripping dvd's. I cant remember exactly how to handle them, but Ill get back to you once I refresh my memory. Havent done it in a while.
