Re: Mexican glossary...
Spanish nouns are masculine or feminine. In most cases, masculine words are preceded by the word "el", and a second word follows that ends in an "o". Feminine words are preceded by "la", and the second word ends in an "a".
Examples:
El Greco (The Greek)
La playa (The beach)
Some words may be used both ways, a male cat is "el gato", and a female cat is "la gata".
There are exceptions to the first rule where a masculine word sounds feminine, and vice versa. So would some Spanish speaking native please explain why on earth the word that defines in essence male sexuality is contrary to the norm?
Why is the word for penis in Spanish "La Verga" instead of "El Vergo"?
¡Pinche perro mierda!
