Wrong?? So since we have 83% of the population is American, we should not have English as our language? I am white, and I am of German Heritage, I could claim to be German-American, but some people would then assume I was a Racist Nazi just for mentioning it. I guess, it is WRONG to post something so extreme Right, when it does not appease the Extreme Left!!! Too bad, I posted it. I like a lot of what he says. And no, I am not a Racist, nor do I discriminate. I just like to hear other ideas. Freedom of Speech. We all get to say it, even if you do not like it. You get to have your say, and so do I. First off there was no one native american lauguage. Secondly the first indians that the settlers would have contacted along the eastern coast would have spoken Algonquian like the Lenape(Delaware) in Eastern New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The Iroquois were located in western New York State. Even the first treaty the US made and Broken with an Indian tribe was "The Treaty with the Delawares" in 1778 at Fort Pitt. Besides the Iroquois declined US citizenship, why would we want to have their language as our national language.

My one Grand mother was Dutch and German(my American Indian heritage is on my Grandpop's side of dad's family). She was born in 1886 at Middletown, PA. and the PA Dutch(Germans) have been here prior to the 1800's. Maybe that's why I'd think nothing of someone saying they're German Americans unless they goose step around and start spouting bullshit about Hitler and an Aryan nation.
When I was growing up in the '50s I had a lot of friends who's families came over here during the 1900's and had grand parents and parents who spoke their native language but they learned English to get along here. It's no different than if you go over to some other country. Once you get away from the tourist traps, you're going to need to learn the native language to survive.
I met a guy and his sister in the piano department of Wanamaker's back when I was 17. I was working in Wanamaker's and use to go to the piano department to play around. They were speaking french fluently while the guy was testing out the pianos. When I went to compliment the guy on his playing, I found out he just arrived back from France where he and his sister were going to college. They had been born in Philly but their parents were musicians from Europe and came here to escape the Nazi's. I asked how he learned French so well. He pointed out that after a couple weeks you pick it up fast if you want to eat well.
