No, I don't vote primarily on party. I tend to side more with Democrats because I'm liberal, and they tend to be more liberal than Republicans. I would vote for a moderate Republican, however, because my main problem with the Republicans is the religious right. If a Republican ran that I agreed with politically, I would vote for that person. Giuliani, for example, is pro-choice and pro-gay rights, among other things. Socially, I agree with him, so I would vote for him if he ran, unless the Democrats ran someone like Richardson or (though I doubt he would run) Gore. Hell, I'd probably vote for Obama, though that's iffy, since he supported the border fence, and I don't agree with that. Giuliani is just the only Republican candidate I've heard about that I like.
And I know socialism doesn't equal communism, that's what the "/" in "=/=" means. Frankly, I think some aspects of socialism seems like good ideas. Seems to be working well for Scandinavian countries. Also, as far as health care goes, we have the most expensive health care system in the world, but we get less for our money than most other industrialized nations (most of which have at least some form of national health care). The New Deal may not have been entirely successful, but I would argue that's because of how it's been implemented. The problem is that there have been some presidents who hated social programs. But it'd be politically unpopular to get rid of said programs, so they're stuck with a program that they hate too much to try to fix, but can't politically do away with, so they just let it go to shit.
Hillary is not left-wing. She voted for the war, and still stands by that. She's for whatever will get her votes, no matter what side of the fence it's on. This is why I don't want her to win, and why I don't think she will.
