Re: sat decoding newbie

a bit more info for you : this relates sky tv in england and i was told that if you do connect the battery to the telephone connection and it works you cannot plug the telephone line back in because it will log what you have watched and you will be billed for it. any info on this will be greatfully received. thanks everyone for a great forum.

Re: sat decoding newbie

Sounds like total horse shit to me. It is nothing like that for the various systems we have here in North America. I can't believe Sky would be that much different. Pay per view purchases are two way communication. The dish box dials into head office and downloads the pay per view purchases. The office sends back an acknowledge and the purchases are cleared from your dish box. So I really really doubt that you can just hook up a 9 volt and get free PPV.

The only thing it could possibly do is fool your dish box into beliving you have a phone line hooked up to it, this may allow you to buy one or two movies before it figures out that it can’t actually contact head office.

Re: sat decoding newbie

thanks for the reply .i spoke to an engineer who said he makes what he called a blocker which does this. in the uk when you order a movie you only pay for it if you actually watch it and the blocker stops the signal being sent to say you watched the movie which in turn resets after 24 hours.the blockers are sold for £5 but i havent got one yet to try.i'll let you know when i do what happens.cheers dudes.
