I was basically wondering what drugs can show up on a spinal tap. i heard that the drugs never leave your spinal fluid and that there is nothing you can do to get rid of them, but I don't know what to believe.

Re: Spinal tap...

No, from what i heard, spinal taps can show up recent drug use (same as a blood test), but not anything done in the distant past.

Re: Spinal tap...

I have also heard that shrooms, acid, exstacy and maybe a few other things ONLY show up in a spinal tap but...as far as for drugs never leaving your spinal fluid...I think it cleans itself like the rest of your body.

That is correct and it was probably me that said it in the other thread. Exctasy stays in the fluid for only a month or so, and it is only because of the direct influence it has on the upper cord and brain. LSD, however, stays in your spinal fluid for up to 25 years. That means if you're unlucky it stays there for 25 years. If you're lucky, you could not show signs as early as 5 years. The majority of us would be between 15 - 25 years on average.

Re: Spinal tap...

LSD in your spinal fluid for years? LSD? Bwaaaahahaha

A-you'd be permenantly fucked if it was in your system that long, this is LSD we're talking about here kiddies.
B- LSD is a VERY unstable molecule, the only way to store it without damage is to quick freeze and stick it in a cold, dry freezer. It will degrade happily in any type of heat or humidity. Besides the fact is has a short half life, the conditions in the human body don't lend themselves to keeping it stable.
C- Same goes with ecstacy, you can find the compounds it degrades to present in the body for a month or so, but not the actual MDMA molecule.
D- Looks like people need to stop listening to urban myths.
E- If someone is taking a sample of your spinal fluid, you probably have bigger things to worry about than a few trips.

25 years? LMAO.

Re: Spinal tap...

True the active chemicals break down after a couple of days, but yes some of the inactive chemicals can stay in your system for years. Otherwise you would indeed trip for a VERY long time.

Re: Spinal tap...

I hate to argue, mtc, but that spinal cord thing is just a myth. LSD is metabolized and released from your body within hours. I think the whole spinal cord thing was to scare students and convince them not to try the drug. Flashbacks are also a myth. People don't suffer from a release of LSD into their system at a later time. Some people who had a severe trip may suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, but not a flashback due to a release of the toxin.

As far as drugs staying in your spinal cord, and nothing you can do to get rid of them... if that was the case, almost any substance would be held in your spinal fluid, and your spinal cord would swell so much that you'd become paralyzed.

Though spinal retention isn't a side-effect of LSD, unknown psychological abnormalities may surface with the use of LSD. I actually personally know a guy who was the unfortunate victim of schizophrenia, which only showed itself after someone gave him LSD. This may or may not have occured at the time anyway, but the circumstantial evidence is beyond the one event.

Re: Spinal tap...

Well, I have offically been pwned by Jimi. I only admit I'm wrong in rare occasions, this being one of them. After doing a bit of research myself, I have indeed been misinformed. May the gods be merciful upon my ignorant soul. But seriously, good argument Jimi. good argument.
