Thanx for the notice. But I think I need to give you a notice. This would probably be something that you would want to put in EOTH or another forum besides this one. Although this is meant for serious discussion, I don't know if Juan, Waldo, Kulot and the others would want Public Service announcements here. Thanx for the concern on the Mesothelioma though.

Re: Mesothelioma from asbestos - Are you at-risk?

I remember my elementary school was full of asbestos. I went there for 3 years before they started figuring it out and the school was shut down for a while for renovations. Wonder if I'll get meso?

Re: Mesothelioma from asbestos - Are you at-risk?

very doubtful. dont worry.

there are cases of people that are exposed to asbestos just 1 time getting meso, but they are very rare.... usually in our people (asbestos workers) they ahve a form of asbestosis or lung cancer first and if that doesnt kill them then the meso kicks in and your gone in about 6 weeks tops.

Re: Mesothelioma from asbestos - Are you at-risk?

British company Turner & Newall (Ferodo brakes) was purchased by US multinational Federal Mogul and thereby assumed responsibility for the outstanding claims made by former employees suffering from mesothelioma.

What happens next? Federal Mogul files for Chapter 11 protection and seeks to limit its liabilities to its lung-damaged former employees in UK and USA.
Federal Mogul chairman Frank Macher explained the Chapter 11 manoeuver thus: "Federal-Mogul will continue to serve its existing customers, fulfill current contracts and secure new business." Well that's OK then. Stuff the workers, corporate culture rules.
Principal financial beneficiaries of the Chapter 11 exercise were, as always, the piranhas, sorry accountants, brought in to administer the company during this time; they trousered millions.

Some deadly numbers:
1,900 people die from mesothelioma each year in the UK
95,000 people will die from mesothelioma by 2050 in the UK
250,000 people will die from mesothelioma in Western Europe by 2035

Re: Mesothelioma from asbestos - Are you at-risk?

Ambulance chasing attorneys have been raving about mesothelioma a lot lately. I have a feeling that this guy, with 1 post and an outside link in the EOTH, has found a way to subtly break the TOS regulations, and no one has noticed.

"If you or a loved one has Mesothelioma, the disease is the result of being exposed to asbestos. Many asbestos manufacturers and distributors knew for decades that asbestos was hazardous, yet made a business decision not to warn people of those hazards. As a result, you may have a right of recovery against those manufacturers, which can help defray the costs of treatment and provide compensation for your pain and suffering."

Sounds like an attorney commercial to me.
