Vista reformat question

So I want to reformat my hp laptop, and just clean out my hard drive and start new with vista. I just had a couple questions about doing it, and its been a while since I've done this. I have the hp disk that has vista and all their crapware all over it, but I wanted to clean everything off and just install vista and drivers thats it. So I would need to buy the vista 64bit cd, and then have all the drivers I need for the computer?

After I reformat and install vista, will it not start without the drivers? I am just not sure how I go about getting the drivers on after Ive reformatted with vista...

I used some backup program to pull all the drivers off my computer, and I have them backed up on a disc. Will all this work?, and thanks for anybody that answers my questions.

Re: Vista reformat question

What discs do you have now?

Sometimes they split their recovery discs into an OS, a drivers, and an Applications CD. If that's how yours is you can get by with just reinstalling the OS and drivers.

Re: Vista reformat question

some hp computers have built-in installers and drivers. you wont be needing to reinstall or reformat. if i remember correctly, its "alt + F10" then you're gonna be asked what you need to do to your pc.

good luck.

Re: Vista reformat question

The computer came with one disc that has everything on it, and if I press alt+f10 wont that put all the hp crapware back on? I just want a super clean install, Because with hp on there, you cant update your drivers on your own you have to do it through HP and they never fucking update anything.. it just makes one more middle man, you know what I mean?

Plus it's just more stuff slowing down my os that I really dont need. I'm wondering if that will speed it up getting everything new and nice...Right now Im thinking of getting another gig o' ram making 4 gigs of useless memory.

If I don't want to go the F10 route or if that keeps all HP's shit on here, whats the other way to reformat, or if thats not actually reformatting, isnt it in like ms dos you type something in?>

Thanks everybody,
A.

Re: Vista reformat question

What I do is get the drivers on a disk that I will need. Then when I do install vista everything is in default until I put the disk in and install the drivers. Once your drivers are installed you might want windows to seartch for updates for the drivers to keep you up to date.

Re: Vista reformat question

There is a bunch of different versions of 64bit vista on newegg, but which do I buy. Theres one that says requires assembler to run. What the fuck does that mean, and don't need a version with a cd key I just need the software that is it. Can anybody look and give me a link or just tell me what to do. I feel like such a nub.

thanks all.
