I believe the grapefruit juice has something in it to reduce insulin levels. When your insulin is too high your sugar isn't being used as energy properly and thus it gets stored as fat. Also high levels of insulin are the cause of us feeling 'hungry'.

while the atkins diet or something like that will give you quick results it may not be healthy for you, however i went on the south beach diet and in a month i lost about 20 pounds. I wasn't eating high amounts of protein rather much much more salad and other vegitibles and fruit. i was suprised at how well it worked.

First of all, the healthiest way to lose weight is diet and exercise. No exceptions.

If you are exercising, DO NOT CUT CARBS! Yes, once you put your body into a state of ketosis you will lose weight, but carbs are essential to restoring the blood sugar levels after you get done working out.

3500 calories equals one pound of body weight, so if you eat 500 calories less per day, you will lose 1 pound a week. How much weight are you trying to lose? A good rule of thumb is to eat no less than 10x your weight in calories per day. I would also go with around 40/40/20 (carbs, protein, and fat)

the trick isn't eliminating any one thing necessarily, but just balancing out what you do eat. Be careful with low-carb diets, because I hear the bounce-back (read: reinflating like a bounce house and then some) can be a beast.

just don't neglect the greens and eat smaller portions. Swimming is a really good way of shedding pounds too, because you exercise the whole body at once. Not to mention, come on, swimming is fun.

if you don't have a pool close by, I recommend a river, lake, or other body of water (assuming it's safe to swim in).

I'm doing the medifast 5-1 diet currently. Really is working well for me. Losing weight pretty rapidly and im not hungry because you eat 6 meals spread out over the day. food isn't spectacular but its teaching me to enjoy smaller meals more frequently to keep up my metabolism even though I'm fairly sedentary.

The shakes and puddings and bars are all easy enough to make while on the road. Watch out for the quick and easy stuff though, the weight will just come back on.

controlled diet and moderate excercise to start. then up the tempo as your body sees fit. eat light several times a day(small portions and snacks) and drink plenty of water and eat fruit(refering to the snacks i just mentioned). the only thing that will make you starving and gorge is thinking about it. so eliminate this by snacking healthily.

You need to change your metabolism...check out CrossFit (it's free), and "The Zone" diet...
Don't waste your time doing sit-ups and crap (although they have their place).
If you do the CrossFit as Rx'd, you will lose about a pound every week...mind you, you are putting on loads of lean muscle...until you are where your body should be.
You need to increase the size of the engine (muscle mass) so that you burn fuel better/faster (quality fuel).
If you like to eat, then this is the way to go too, because you are eating more and more often. This futher increases the metabolic rate because your body sees that there is always fuel in the 'tank', and knows it doesn't have to store it up as fat while you starve.
Check it out, it's free and on the net...just throw a .com after crossfit and off you go!
BTW, it's 3days on, 1off. Check out the Workout of the Day (WOD). There's an article on the site about starting off too! Just look for it.
First, see your doctor...if you have a heart condition or hypertension or something you may do more harm than good :|
If you need something for the road, check out the TRX suspension trainer...it fits in a bag the size of half a loaf of bread....I'm getting one soon myself.

may want to quit drinking soda, that helps lose weight, start drinking more water, juices, not things like orange "drinks". dont eat huge meals eat more times a day w/ small meals. you dont have to go running, just start walking or somehting. Also if you are able do some sit-ups push-ups at night or in the morning, both night/morning is best.

It may seem like a good idea, but the black stuff you end up dumping out is actually dried blood.

If you want to cleanse, do it over a month's time. It's safer and your body and diet doesn't have to suffer. (Hollywood diet = nothing but that drink and water...zero food).
