UFC 61: Ortiz-Shamrock & Silvia-Orlovsky

I'm going for Ortiz all the way. I've never been a fan of Shamrock's, and I just like Ortiz's style better.

As for the Championship fight, I really don't care who wins. I like both guys a lot. I'm just hoping for some good entertainment out of it. Their last fight was epic since Silvia got rocked, but came back and put Andrei down. They're both just BIG powerful dudes. Should be another kick-ass bout.

Re: UFC 61: Ortiz-Shamrock & Silvia-Orlovsky

I can't stand Shamrock, or the Lion's Den for that matter. I am going for Ortiz and am looking for Ortiz to beat his ass worse than last time. Ken Shamrock will need to hang it up after this one.

I think the Arlovski/Silvia fight will be another great fight. I would like to see Silvia knock Arlovski out again, but I am thinking Arlovski will be better prepared for this one.

Another fight I am excited for is Josh Burkman vs Josh Neer. I like Neer in this one, but I think it will come to a decision.

Re: UFC 61: Ortiz-Shamrock & Silvia-Orlovsky

Honestly, I'm not the biggest Shamrock fan either....however I want him to win. My reason is simple. A third fight.

I also think Arlovski will win this fight. Except I can't explain how pumped I was after Silvia knocked him out in the last fight just because it was sooooo unexpected.

This PPV will be far better than the last.

Re: UFC 61: Ortiz-Shamrock & Silvia-Orlovsky

Well, you do have a point with a third fight. I just can't stand him so bad, that I want him to be sent to retirement by Ortiz. Now you sir have put me on the fence about the fight. I think now I won't be as upset if Shamrock wins after hearing your thoughts about a third fight.

Re: UFC 61: Ortiz-Shamrock & Silvia-Orlovsky

So, was anyone else disappointed with the quick ending of the Ortiz/Shamrock fight like I was? Also disappointed that they didn't show Monson(sp?) instead of the Frank Mir Dan Christison fight. That was probably the most boring fight of the night.

Either way I look at it, it was worth it to see Shamrock get his ass beat...

I was pretty disappointed - that was too fast. I wanted more of a rumble.

Re: UFC 61: Ortiz-Shamrock & Silvia-Orlovsky

When Ortiz push Shamrock against the fence he dropped that elbow like a ton of bricks.

I watched it over and over....it was a good stop. Shamrocks lights were out.

Re: UFC 61: Ortiz-Shamrock & Silvia-Orlovsky

I was disappoined with the entire fight card. Outside of the bloodbath first fight, they were all lackluster. The Frank Mir fight pretty much sucked...that guy needs to get in better shape and fight some non-PPV events before they start scheduling him in with the big boys.

The Ortiz Shamrock fight was stopped properly, but I still want to watch those two guys all-out brawl. Herb Dean should have known that these two guys hate each other, and since they billed it as a "Grudge Match", he should have given Shamrock a little longer before stopping the fight (just because I wanted to watch Ortiz punish him some more). Hell, they should have let them fight again that night. Give Shamrock 5 minutes to recover and let them go at it again.

The Orlovsky-Silvia fight was fucking gay. Both guys were just trying not to lose. Neither one rocked the other one seriously. Silvia just sat there and waited for Andrei to punch so he could try to counter. Nothing is more boring than watching 2 giants in a 25-minute jab-fest. They should have stripped Silvia's belt from him and put it up for grabs in another fight because neither one of those guys proved worthy of being a "champion". If it were like Pride fighting, they would have held up the cards to show the fighters that their pay was being decreased because there was no action. The fans had the right to boo, and Dana White needs to do a better job of ensuring more action ESPECIALLY on a PPV event. Its really bad when the most action you get is from the referee telling the guys to start fighting.

I agree with everything here. Mir is totally out of shape, and rightfully so, in my opinion. He just isn't ready to fight the big boys at all yet.

I agree that the fight should have been stopped, but I was hoping that the beating would last longer than that. I hate the Lion's Den, especially Ken Shamrock.

I didn't think that the whole card was a disappointment though. I really enjoyed the Josh Burkeman/ Josh Neer fight. I thought Josh B. really fought a great fight and deserved that decision.

That's true...I forgot about the Burkeman-Neer fight. That Neer kid is one tough dude, but Burkeman did deserve that decision.
